Thi invention relates to improvements in locks and more particularly to an improved device of this character particularly adepted for milk cans.

The principal object oli my invention is to provide locks 'for nulli cans Whiel'i will pre Vent the unauthorized opening of cans and the'll'. ol their contents.

The nianner of using this lock is as follows: The closure is first placed on the eau and turned so as to lock the bayonet joint, which movement brings the lock, cases 8 and 13 into alincnient. The bolt 1d is then depressed and the same is pushed downwardly the curved lower end contacts with the cui-red upper surface of lug` 12 and forces the spring toward the outer Wall of case 8 and allows the lower end of the holt to pass the lug,` and the latter to enter notch 16. ln this position it will he evident that the can can not he opened hy any ordinary nieansand a key 9 such as shown in is required to ail/ect the opening. This Tiey is entered through hole 9 in the outer casing and. n siinilai leaped hole in the spring 11 when hy giving it a. quarter turn lie spring may he pulled toward the Wall a suilieient amount to .allow the holtv to he pressed upwardly by means of spring 17. The bolt is raised a suflicient distance to bring the lowermost point in alinenient with the bottom of the case 13 thus allowing the closure to he turned and the bayonet joint unlocked.
