Die Matratze besitzt einen elastischen Matratzenrahmen 1 aus Schaumstoff. Festigkeitsqualitäten erhältlich, so daß die Matratzenhärte bzw. -festigkeit in der Matratzenlängsrichtung individuell an die Bedürfnisse eines Benutzers eingestellt werden kann. Wie insbesondere die Figur 2 gut erkennen läßt, sind die Kernelemente 6 dabei an ihren Oberseiten 6a und insbesondere in ihren Übergangsbereichen zu den Längsseitenwänden 6b abgerundet ausgebildet, damit an den Übergängen zwischen verschiedenen Kernelementen 6 mit unterschiedlichen Festigkeiten keine oder nur geringe Scherkräfte auftreten und ein sanfter Übergang zwischen den Kernelementen 6 möglich ist.
