Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Displayadapter zum Ermöglichen einer automatischen Erkennung und Konfiguration einer Anzeigevorrichtung durch eine Graphikkarte, unabhängig von dem durch die Graphikkarte verwendeten Graphikcontroller. Um einen Displayadapter anzugeben, mit dem die Schnittstelle zwischen der Graphikkarte und einer Anzeigevorrichtung so verbessert werden kann, dass die Art und Konfiguration der Anzeigevorrichtung automatisch erkannt werden kann und der Displayadapter gleichzeitig unabhängig von dem jeweils verwendeten Graphikcontroller ist, umfasst der Displayadapter mindestens eine Speichervorrichtung zum Speichern von Adressdaten, die auf Konfigurationsdaten in einem Speicher der Graphikkarte verweisen, eine erste Schnittstelle zum Verbinden des Displayadapters mit der Graphikkarte, eine zweite Schnittstelle zum Verbinden des Displayadapters mit der Anzeigevorrichtung, eine Übertragungsvorrichtung zum Übertragen von aus der Speichervorrichtung ausgelesenen Adressdaten an die Graphikkarte und eine Empfangs-/Übertragungsvorrichtung zum Empfangen von Anzeigedaten von der Graphikkarte und zum Weiterleiten an die Anzeigevorrichtung.
