Abstract

A digital shot of an item defines a two-dimensional colored area according to a first preset selection criterion by inserting pixels into pre-definable classes. The pixels in the shot are projected onto this two-dimensional colored area. Beams of light (10) irradiate an item to be examined (12) like a plant's leaf from below. Transmitted beams of light (14) are captured on camera (16) such as a CCD digital camera.
