Das Transportsystem 4 verläuft entlang einer im wesentlichen U-förmigen Bahn im Bereich der unteren, seitlichen und oberen Begrenzungswände des Gehäuses. Auf diese Weise läßt sich eine genügend lange Transportstrecke auf engerem Raum unterbringen. Diese Länge ist zum einen nötig um eine entsprechende Anzahl von Sensoren in der Prüfeinrichtung unterzubringen, zum anderen benötigt man Transportstrecke bzw. Transportzeit um die Prüfsignale auszuwerten und entsprechende Stellglieder zu aktivieren. Durch die vorgesehene Führung des Transportsystems 4 ist es, insbesondere im Bereich der Prüfeinrichtung 6, sehr gut zugänglich. Im weiteren Verlauf werden die Banknoten durch eine Prüfeinrichtung 6 transportiert, in der wählbare Kriterien der Banknote überprüfbar sind. Abhängig von dieser Prüfung werden die Banknoten im weiteren Verlauf entweder über einen sogenannten Spiralfachstapler 9 der Ablage 10 oder aber über die Längs-/Querfördereinrichtung 7 den Ablagefächern 12 bis 15 zugeführt. In der Ablage 10, welche in unmittelbarer Nähe des Eingabefachs angeordnet ist, werden nicht identifizierbare bzw. falschgeldverdächtige Banknoten abgelegt, die einer Nachprüfung durch den Bediener unterzogen werden müssen. Auch die Ablagefächer 12 bis 15 sind in unmittelbarer Nähe des Eingabefachs und damit im Griffbereich des Bedieners angeordnet.
