Description

The present invention relates to a sports or leisure shoe with a high upper, of the type commonly known as a basketball shoe and used in particular for the practice of this sport.

The conditions of basketball practice subject the ankles of the player to violent efforts, due in particular to the numerous movements in extension, followed by brutal contact with the ground, and to the numerous starts for dribbling or racing followed by phases of brutal stop.

It is therefore important to be able to have shoes which provide sufficient support for the foot in the ankle area, both at the level of the internal malleolus and the external malleolus while providing protection, by appropriate padding, against direct shocks.

Shoes have thus been proposed comprising reinforcement and / or tightening bands extending substantially horizontally around the upper.

However, the shoes thus produced do not provide sufficient support for the foot and in practice players continue to use ankles or support bands inside the shoe.

The present invention proposes to provide a shoe making it possible to avoid the use of accessories such as ankles and offering very good holding and tightening properties of the foot in the upper part of the upper of the shoe.

The shoe according to the invention is of the type in which the upper part of the upper is made of padded material and is characterized in that it comprises a zone of reinforcing material on the outside face of the shoe substantially at the level of the external malleolus, at least one tightening band extending from said reinforcement zone, the band comprising a first branch rising from said reinforcement zone at an angle along the external face of the rod to the vicinity of the upper end of the latter at the rear of the shoe, and extending substantially horizontally along the upper end. of the inner face of the upper above the internal malleolus, and a second branch rising from said reinforcement zone at an angle through the front closure zone of the boot towards the inside of the upper, and means for connecting the two branches of the band to the inside of the upper to immobilize the band e in a defined clamping position.

Preferably the connecting means comprise a loop fixed to the free end of the first branch on the inner face of the upper of the shoe, the second branch of the tightening band having on its outer surface two zones of complementary materials capable of adhering to each other under the effect of pressure and being able to separate under the effect of a traction, said said second branch engaging in said loop then being folded up so as to bring the two zones of complementary materials into mutual contact for closure.

In other words, in the embodiment, the second branch of the tightening band is provided with rapid closing means of the type known under the name of "Velcro".

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the shoe comprises, at the rear part of the upper, means for positioning and guiding the first branch of the tightening band, said means being advantageously produced in the form of a loop. arranged vertically and in which engages said first branch of the band at the rear of the shoe. The passer-by can be attached to the outer face of the shoe or, in a preferred variant, can be obtained by cutting the material of the rear face of the upper.

It is understood that the tightening band according to the invention, in the open position of the shoe, is fixed to the latter only in the reinforcement zone at the level of the external malleolus, and therefore, when exercising on the free end of the second branch a traction then this free end is immobilized after connection of the two branches, the band makes a complete turn of the shoe, and ensures a significant tightening of the foot at the ankle, the material constituting the strip also providing a reinforcing effect. The orientations of the band, at an angle on the outside face of the upper and at an angle through the front closing area of the shoe, appear in experience to be particularly favorable to resistance to violent stresses linked to the practice of basketball -ball.

The reinforcing material constituting the area on the outer face of the rod from which the tightening band extends, as well as the material constituting the tightening band, can be of any suitable type, in particular natural or synthetic leather .

In order to better understand the invention, an embodiment will now be described by way of example in no way limiting, with reference to the appended drawing in which:
  • FIG. 1 is an elevation view of a shoe according to the invention showing the outer side thereof,
  • FIG. 2 is an elevation view of the shoe according to the invention showing the interior side thereof,
  • FIG. 3 is a fragmentary view of the boot showing the inside of the upper before tightening,
  • FIG. 4 is a fragmentary rear view of the shoe,
  • FIG. 5 is a fragmentary view from above of the shoe before tightening,
  • FIG. 6 is a fragmentary front view of the shoe before tightening, and
  • - Figure 7 is a view corresponding to Figure 6 after tightening.

The shoe according to the invention, of the type used for the practice of basketball, conventionally comprises a sole 1, an upper designated overall by 2 and a high upper generally designated by 3 and made of padded material.

In the front part of the upper and of the upper is produced in a conventional manner, a closure zone 4, the closure of the shoe in this embodiment being provided by laces, not shown, engaging in eyelets 5 arranged on either side of the front opening of the shoe in which a tongue 6 is mounted in the usual way.

The shoe according to the invention comprises on its outer face, substantially at the level of the external malleolus, an area made of reinforcing material 7, in particular leather which, in the illustrated embodiment, has extensions 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d substantially aligned two-by-two from the central part of the reinforcement zone.

According to the invention there is provided a tightening band formed by two branches 8 and 9, also made of leather.

The branch 8 is fixed by one end 8a to the extension 7c of the reinforcement zone 7, or is made in one piece with it. The branch 8 is thus fixed to the upper of the shoe only by its end 8a.

As can be seen in the drawing, and in particular in FIGS. 2 and 3, the opposite end 8b of the branch 8 has a loop 10. The branch 8 extends from the reinforcement zone 7, rising at an angle along the face outside of the rod, engages in a passage 11 at the rear part of the rod, passing attached to the rod or formed by making cutouts 12 in the material constituting the rear wall of the rod, then extends over the inner face of the rod substantially parallel to the upper edge thereof, so that the loop is in the front part of the inner face of the rod as seen in particular in FIGS. 2 and 3.

The branch 9 of the loop which, as seen in particular in FIG. 1, extends from the extension 7b of the reinforcement zone, rises, as best seen in FIG. 6, at an angle through the area of closure 4 of the shoe, engages in the buckle 10 then is folded back on itself as best seen in FIG. 7.

In a variant not shown, the branch 9 can extend under the reinforcement zone 7 as far as the extension 7a thereof by a length of elastic band.

To ensure blocking of the strip, the branch 9 has on its external face two successive zones 13 and 14 made of complementary materials capable of adhering under the effect of pressure.

Thus, the zone 13 can be made of elements similar to hooks and the zone 14 can be made of a material similar to felt.

It is understood that, for the implementation of the invention, after having closed, in particular by lacing, the shoe, it suffices to exert a traction on the free end of the branch 9 then, after having reached the degree of tightening desired, fold this free end over the part of the branch arranged across the closing area of the shoe to immobilize the band in the desired tightening position.

During use this operation can be repeated to modify the degree of tightening.

Although the invention has been described in connection with a particular embodiment, it is obvious that it is in no way limited thereto and that it can be made with different variants and modifications without departing from its scope or his mind.
