Description
- Der dehnbare Stent der vorliegenden Erfindung ist so ausgelegt, um eine dehnbare Polytetrafluorethylenumhüllung zu bilden, die sich in Zuordnung zu der Stent-Struktur dehnt und komprimiert, wenn sich die Stent-Struktur dehnt und zusammenzieht. Der dehnbare Stent der vorliegenden Erfindung kann für die Wiederherstellung und Stützung von Körpergefäßwänden verwendet werden.
- In bevorzugten Ausführungsformen der vorliegenden Erfindung umfaßt ein dehnbarer Stent eine angebondete Schicht einer dehnbaren Polytetrafluorethylenumhüllung eines Stents, so dass die Längs-Fibrillen der Umhüllung mindestens im Wesentlichen so verlängert sind, um dann an die Längsdehnung des Stents angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent radial komprimiert wird; Umfangsfibrillen sind zumindest im Wesentlichen so gefaltet, um an die radiale Kompression des Stents angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent längs gedehnt wird: Längsfibrillen sind mindestens im Wesentlichen so gefaltet, um an die Längskompression des Stents angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent radial gedehnt wird; und so sind die Umfangs-Fibrillen mindestens im Wesentlichen so gedehnt, um an eine radiale Expansion des Stents angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent längs komprimiert wird.
- In anderen, bevorzugten Ausführungsformen der vorliegenden Erfindung umfaßt ein dehnbarer Stent eine gebondete Schicht eines gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylens, das einen Stent so umhüllt, dass der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Längsrichtung zwischen Knoten, erhöht wird, wenn der dehnbare Stent radial komprimiert wird; der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Längsrichtung zwischen den Knoten, wird verringert, wenn der dehnbare Stent radial gedehnt wird; der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung zwischen Knoten, wird erhöht, wenn der dehnbare Stent längs komprimiert wird; und so wird der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung zwischen Knoten, verringert, wenn der dehnbare Stent längs gedehnt wird.
- Zusammengefasst bezieht sich die vorliegende Erfindung auf eine dehnbare Prothese, die umfasst: (a) eine nicht durchgängige Wand, die ein Lumen begrenzt, das so eingerichtet ist, dass es eine in Längsrichtung zusammengezogene Position und eine in Längsrichtung gedehnte Position einnimmt; und (b) wenigstens eine Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen, die sich in Verbindung mit der nicht durchgängigen Wand dehnt und verdichtet, wobei die Schicht einen ersten, durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand in einem freien Zustand hat, die Schicht aus Polytetrafluorethylen so an der Wand befestigt ist, dass sie einen zweiten, durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung zusammengezogenen Position befindet, und der zweite, durchschnittliche Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand kürzer ist als der erste, durchschnittliche Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand. Die Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen kann (i) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen ungefähr 0 und ungefähr 50 Mikrometern haben, vorzugsweise zwischen ungefähr 5 und ungefähr 50 oder zwischen ungefähr 20 und ungefähr 30 Mikrometern, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung zusammengezogenen Position befindet, und (ii) kann einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen ungefähr 50 und ungefähr 150 Mikrometern, vorzugsweise zwischen ungefähr 60 und ungefähr 140 oder zwischen ungefähr 80 und ungefähr 120 Mikrometern, haben, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung gedehnten Position befindet.
- KURZE BESCHREIBUNG DER ZEICHNUNGEN
- Die vorstehenden Merkmale, Aufgaben und Vorteile der vorliegenden Erfindung werden für Fachleute auf dem betreffenden Fachgebiet aus der nachfolgenden, detaillierten Beschreibung von bevorzugten Ausführungsformen ersichtlich werden, insbesondere dann, wenn sie in Verbindung mit den beigefügten Zeichnungen betrachtet wird, in denen:

6 zeigt ein ePTFE-Material, das in Längsrichtung auf den Dorn zusammengezogen ist, und stellt weiterhin die Längs-Fibrillen dar, die im Wesentlichen gefaltet sind, und stellt die Umfangsfibrillen dar, denen ermöglicht wird, im Wesentlichen gedehnt zu verbleiben; -
7 zeigt einen gedehnten Stent, der einen Innendurchmesser größer als der kombinierte Außendurchmesser des Dorns und des ePTFE-Materials besitzt, über das in Längsrichtung komprimierte ePTFE-Material auf dem Dorn positioniert; -

13 zeigt eine Darstellung der verschiedenen Zustände des ePTFE auf dem Stent so, wenn der dehnbare Stent radial komprimiert oder radial gedehnt ist. - BESCHREIBUNG DER BEVORZUGTEN AUSFÜHRUNGSFORMEN
- Wie nun die
1 –13 zeigen, bezieht sich die vorliegende Erfindung auf einen flexiblen und im Wesentlichen zylindrischen, dehnbaren Stent20 , der aus einem Stent12 und einer Umhüllung aus biaxial orientiertem, expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylenmaterial3 gebildet ist. Das biaxial orientierte, gedehnte Polytetrafluorethylenmaterial3 besitzt eine Mikrostruktur, aufgebaut aus Knoten2 und Fibrillen4 ,4' , und Zwischenknotenabständen α, α', θ, θ'. - Der Ausdruck biaxiales, expandiertes Polytetrafluorethylen-Material, wie er hier verwendet wird, bedeutet ein biaxial orientiertes, expandiertes Polytetrafluorethylen-Material. Der Ausdruck uniaxiales, expandiertes Polytetrafluorethylen-Material, wie er hier verwendet wird, bedeutet ein uniaxial orientiertes, expandiertes Polytetrafluorethylen-Material. Der durchschnittliche Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand entweder von uniaxialem oder biaxialem, expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen kann zwischen ungefähr 5 und ungefähr 150 Mikrometern in dem freien Zustand, vorzugsweise zwischen ungefähr 20 und ungefähr 60 Mikrometern in dem freien Zustand, betragen. Die Längsorientierung und die sich ergebenden Längs-Zwischenknotenabstände basieren auf der Orientierung, wenn das expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen auf einem Stent plaziert ist, so dass die Längsorientierung des Stents und des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylens im Wesentlichen zueinander entsprechen. Das expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen befindet sich in einem freien Zustand, wenn keine Kraft darauf aufgebracht ist.
- Eine bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann so ausgelegt sein, dass seine gedehnte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung10' der Dehnung oder dem Zusammenziehen des Stents12 (13 ) zugeordnet ist, wenn der dehnbare Stent20 in einen Einführkatheder eingesetzt wird oder in ein Körper-Lumen eingebracht wird. Der dehnbare Stent20 ist dazu vorgesehen, Körpergefäßwände wiederherzustellen und zu stützen. - Eine bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann aus einem umsponnenen bzw. umflochtenen Stent12 hergestellt sein, wie beispielsweise ein solcher, der in dem US-Patent Nr. 5,061,275 für Wallstin, beschrieben ist. Ein solcher sich selbst dehnender Stent ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sich der Stent in Längsrichtung zusammenzieht, wenn er sich radial erweitert, und sich in Längsrichtung erweitert, wenn er sich radial zusammenzieht. Andere, nicht umflochtene Stents sind im Stand der Technik bekannt, die diese Charakteristik gemeinsam teilen. Dieser Stent12 kann mindestens teilweise abgedeckt sein, individuell oder in Kombination, mit mindestens einer Schicht eines Rohrs, einer Platte, eines Streifens oder eines Films aus biaxial gedehntem Polytetrafluorethylen-Material10 auf der Innenfläche14 , der Außenfläche18 , der Innenfläche14 und der Außenfläche18 , oder zwischen der Innenfläche14 und der Außenfläche18 der diskontinuierlichen Wand eines Stents12 (7 –13 ). Der Stent12 und die expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Abdeckung10' können zusammen verbunden sein, z. B. unter Wärme und Druck, um den dehnbaren Stent20 zu bilden. Ein anderes Verfahren eines Verbindens kann die Verwendung eines anderen Polymers, wie beispielsweise eines Polyurenthans oder von FEP, das einen niedrigeren Schmelzpunkt besitzt, umfassen. - Der dehnbare Stent
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung bietet die Eigenschaften eines Stents12 und die Vorteile einer expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Umhüllung, die mit der Nachgiebigkeit und der Verformung des unterlegenden Stents12 übereinstimmt. Die expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Mikrostruktur (1 –3 ) und deren Orientierung auf dem Stent12 (5 –13 ) beziehen sich auf die vorliegende Erfindung. Der dehnbare Stent20 besitzt die Charakteristika, die die Okklusion des Lumens verringern und die Heilung von beschädigten Körpergefäßen verbessern kann. - Eine andere, bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann eine uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Umhüllung auf mindestens einem Teil der Innenfläche14 , der Außenfläche18 , der Innenfläche14 und der Außenfläche18 , oder zwischen der Innenfläche14 und der Außenfläche18 des Stents12 , umfassen. Die uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung kann im Wesentlichen aus Fibrillen, bei denen die Knoten im Wesentlichen auf Null verringert worden sind, aufgebaut sein. Andere, uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckungen können diskrete Knoten haben, so dass die Knoten im Wesentlichen nicht miteinander verbunden sind. - Eine andere, bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann eine uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenumhüllung und eine biaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenumhüllung10' auf mindestens einem Teil der Innenfläche14 , der Außenfläche18 , der Innenfläche14 und der Außenfläche18 , oder zwischen der Innenfläche14 und der Außenfläche18 des Stents12 , haben. Die uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung ist im Wesentlichen aus Fibrillen aufgebaut und ist längs auf dem Stent orientiert. - In diesen bevorzugten Ausführungsformen kann sich die expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung entsprechend mit dem Stent
12 dehnen und zusammenziehen. Wenn Radiale und Längskräfte auf den dehnbaren Stent aufgebracht werden (13 ), können sich die Knoten und Fibrillen-Beziehung innerhalb des biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylenmaterials10' und die Fibrillen-Beziehung innerhalb des uniaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylenmaterials ändern und ermöglichen, dass die Abdeckung mit der Form des Stents12 übereinstimmt.13 stellt einen dehnbaren Stent der vorliegenden Erfindung mit den Endbereichen in mindestens teilweise radial gedehnten Zuständen und dem mittleren Abstand in einem zumindest teilweise radial zusammengezogenen Zustand dar. - In den bevorzugten Ausführungsformen des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung ist die bevorzugte Knoten- und Fibrillen-Beziehung des biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylens oder die bevorzugte Fibrillen-Beziehung des uniaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials von den Dimensionen des Stents12 , der abgedeckt bzw. eingehüllt werden soll, abhängig. Allerdings kann die bevorzugte Knoten- und Fibrillen-Beziehung des biaxialen, gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylens in dem freien Zustand oder die bevorzugte Fibrillen-Beziehung des uniaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylens in dem freien Zustand eine umfangsmäßige Fibrillen-Länge haben, die von ungefähr 5 Mikrometern bis ungefähr 150 Mikrometern reicht; einen Zwischen-Knoten-Abstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung, der von ungefähr 5 Mikrometern bis ungefähr 150 Mikrometern reicht; eine Längsfibrillenlänge, die von ungefähr 5 Mikrometern bis ungefähr 100 Mikrometern reicht; oder einen Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Längsrichtung, der von ungefähr 5 Mikrometern bis ungefähr 100 Mikrometern reicht, um ausreichend zu sein, um den erwünschten Bereich einer Arbeitsweise der vorliegenden Erfindung zu bieten. - Die Knoten
2 und die Fibrillen4 ,4' innerhalb des biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials, können auf dem Stent12 so orientiert sein, dass die Längs-Fibrillen mindestens im Wesentlichen so expandiert bzw. gedehnt sind,4' , um eine Längsdehnung des Stents12 anzupassen, wenn der Stent12 radial zusammengedrückt wird, wobei die umfangsmäßigen Fibrillen zumindest im Wesentlichen gefaltet sind,6' , um an eine radiale Kompression des Stents angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent12 in Längsrichtung gedehnt wird; die längs verlaufenden Fibrillen sind im Wesentlichen gefaltet,4 , um an eine Längstkompression des Stents12 angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent12 radial gedehnt wird; oder die umfangsmäßigen Fibrillen sind zumindest im Wesentlichen so gedehnt,6 , um an eine radiale Dehnung des Stents angepaßt zu sein, wenn der Stent12 in Längsrichtung zusammengedrückt wird (6 ,7 ,10 und13 ). Die Wechselwirkung der Knoten2 und der Fibrillen4 ,4' innerhalb des biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials10' ermöglicht, dass das biaxiale, gedehnte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material10' im Wesentlichen mit der radialen und in Längsrichtung verlaufenden Dehnung und dem Zusammenziehen des Stents12 übereinstimmt. - Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auch auf ein Verfahren zum Verbinden eines expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials
10 ,10' an einem Stent12 , so dass der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Längsrichtung zwischen den Knoten, dann erhöht wird, wenn der dehnbare Stent20 radial zusammengedrückt wird; der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Längsrichtung zwischen Knoten, verringert wird, wenn der dehnbare Stent20 radial gedehnt wird; der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung zwischen Knoten2 , erhöht wird, wenn der dehnbaren Stent20 in Längsrichtung zusammengedrückt wird; oder der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung zwischen Knoten2 , verringert wird, wenn der dehnbare Stent in Längsrichtung gedehnt wird. - Der Stent
12 und die gedehnte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung10' sind im Wesentlichen zusammen verbunden und ziehen sich im Wesentlichen coextensiv bzw. flächengleich zusammen, dehnen sich oder stimmen in der Form überein, wenn radiale und in Längsrichtung verlaufende Kräfte den dehnbaren Stent20 erweitern oder zusammenziehen. Z. B. kann sich der dehnbare Stent20 zusammenziehen, wenn er in einen Einführkatheder eingesetzt wird, oder der dehnbare Stent20 kann sich erweitern, wenn er von dem Katheder in ein Körpergefäß eingebracht wird. - Die biaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-
10 ,10' oder die uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung sind keine Elastomere, allerdings dehnen sie sich und ziehen sich mit den radialen oder in Längsrichtung verlaufenden Expansions- und Kompressionskräften an dem dehnbaren Stent20 zusammen. Auch können sich die biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen- oder uniaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluore thylen-Abdeckungen auf dem dehnbaren Stent20 dehnen und zusammenziehen, und haben verringerte Faltungen, Flächen, keine Kissenbildung oder Knicke, was demzufolge den Thrombose-Effekt verringern kann, der aus ungleichmäßigen oder rauhen Gefäßoberflächen resultiert. Die Orientierung des ePTFE und die Wechselwirkung der Knoten2 und der Fibrillen4 ,4' ,6 ,6' kann ermöglichen, dass die Innenoberfläche14 und/oder die Außenoberfläche18 im Wesentlichen glatt in sowohl dem zusammengezogenen als auch dem gedehnten Zustand sind. - Eine andere, bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung bietet eine im Wesentlichen glatte Abdeckung während der radialen und in Längsrichtung verlaufenden Kompression und Expansion des dehnbaren Stents20 . Eine radiale Kompression und eine longitudinale Expansion des dehnbaren Stents20 tritt dann auf, wenn der dehnbare Stent20 in einen Katheder eingesetzt wird. Eine radiale Erweiterung und ein in Längsrichtung verlaufendes Zusammenziehen des dehnbaren Stents20 tritt dann auf, wenn der dehnbare Stent20 in verschieden dimensionierte Körpergefäße eingesetzt wird. - Der dehnbare Stent
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann eine Oberfläche erzielen, die einen erhöhten Fluid-Fluss unterstützt, eine Turbulenz des Fluids verringert, und insgesamt verbesserte Nachgiebigkeit-Eigenschaften zeigt, wenn mit herkömmlichen, umhüllten Stents verglichen wird. Viele der Charakteristika der vorliegenden Erfindung sind durch Mediziner erwünscht, wenn Körpergefäße wiederhergestellt und geheilt werden. - Die expandierte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung an dem Stent
12 erfordert, wenn sie mit einem nicht abgedeckten Stent12 verglichen wird, nur eine geringe, zusätzliche Kraft, um sich zu erweitern oder zusammenzuziehen. Das biaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material10' oder das uniaxiale, expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material passt sich im Wesentlichen an die radiale und in Längsrichtung verlaufende Erweiterung und das Zusammenziehen des Stents12 an. Die erweiterte Polytetrafluorethylenabdeckung ist dazu vorgesehen, die Vorteile eines herkömmlichen Stent12 durch zusätzliche Implantat-Eigenfähigkeiten zu erhöhen, ohne die Nachgiebigkeit und die Funktionsweise des dehnbaren Stent-Implantats20 zu verringern. - Das dehnbare Stent-Implantat
20 ist allgemein in der Form eines zylindrischen Lumens hergestellt, das eine diskontinuierliche Wand besitzt, die mit dem expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen abgedeckt ist. - Eine bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents der vorliegenden Erfindung besitzt eine Knoten- und Fibrillen-Beziehung in der biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Abdeckung
10' oder eine Fibrillenbeziehung in der uniaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Abdeckung jeweils so, dass sich das dehnbare Stent-Implantat20 längst bis zu ungefähr 300% erweitern kann, wenn es radial komprimiert wird, verglichen mit seiner Länge, wenn es sich in dem radial erweiterten Zustand befindet. - Eine andere, bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung besitzt eine Knoten- und Fibrillen-Beziehung in der biaxialen, gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylen-Abdeckung10' oder eine Fibrillen-Beziehung in der uniaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Abdeckung so, dass sich das dehnbare Stent-Implantat20 radial bis zu ungefähr 1000% seines vollständig radialen, komprimierten Durchmessers dehnt. - Eine andere, bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stent-Implantats
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann mindestens eine Teilschicht eines biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylens oder eines uniaxialen,10' , expandierten Polytetrafluorethylens oder einer Kombination eines biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylens10' und eines uniaxialen, gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials aufweisen. Das uniaxiale, gedehnte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material besitzt eine Fibrillen-Beziehung und ist im Wesentlichen aus Fibrillen aufgebaut, da die Knoten2 im Wesentlichen auf nahe Null verringert worden sind. Jede Schicht des biaxialen oder uniaxialen, gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials kann eine Dicke haben, die von ungefähr 10 bis ungefähr 500 Mikrometern reicht, und kann aus einem Rohr, aus einer Platte, einem Film oder einer Mehrzahl von Streifen, angeordnet auf der inneren Oberfläche14 der diskontinuierlichen Wand, der äußeren Oberfläche18 der diskontinuierlichen Wand, der äußeren Oberfläche18 der diskontinuierlichen Wand, sowohl der inneren Oberfläche14 als auch der äußeren Oberfläche18 der diskontinuierlichen Wand des Stents oder zwischen der inneren Oberfläche14 und der äußeren Oberfläche18 der diskontinuierlichen Wand des Stents12 , einschließlich der Leerstellen zwischen dem Netz der Wände, hergestellt sein. Die diskontinuierliche Wand und das expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material sind bei einem Temperaturbereich von etwa 340°C bis ungefähr 390°C aneinandergebondet. - In einer weiteren Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung kann die diskontinuierliche Wand des Stents12 mit expandiertem Polytetrafluore thylen, Polytetrafluorethylen oder mit sowohl expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen als auch Polytetrafluorethylen auf mindestens einem Teil seiner Oberfläche beschichtet sein. - Die bevorzugten Ausführungsformen des dehnbaren Stents
20 der vorliegenden Erfindung können durch das Verfahren eines Platzierens eines biaxialen, gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials10 auf einem Dorn8 in einem zumindest teilweise gedehnten Zustand und dann in Längsrichtung komprimieren des biaxialen, gedehnten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials10 , während es auf dem Dorn8 positioniert ist, so dass die in Längsrichtung verlaufenden Fibrillen zumindest im Wesentlichen gefaltet sind,4 , und die in Umfangsrichtung verlaufenden Fibrillen zumindest im Wesentlichen gedehnt sind,6 , oder so, dass der Abstand der inneren Knoten, gemessen in der Längsrichtung zwischen Knoten2 , verringert wird, und der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung zwischen Knoten2 , erhöht wird, hergestellt werden. Ein Stent12 , der einen Innendurchmesser größer als der kombinierte Durchmesser des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials und des Dorns8 besitzt, wird dann auf der äußeren Oberfläche des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials platziert. Ein Kontakt wird dann zwischen dem Stent und dem expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Material beibehalten, während die Abdeckung und der Stent auf eine Temperatur erwärmt werden, die von ungefähr 340°C bis ungefähr 390°C reicht, für eine Zeit, die von ungefähr 1 Minute bis ungefähr 15 Minuten reicht, um das expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material an die diskontinuierliche Wand des Stents anzubonden. Der dehnbare Stent wird dann gekühlt und von dem Dorn entfernt. - Zusätzlich können die bevorzugten Ausführungsformen des dehnbaren Stents der vorliegenden Erfindung auch durch das Verfahren eines Platzierens eines biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials auf einem Dorn und dann dehnen in Längsrichtung oder Strecken des biaxialen, expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials, während es auf dem Dorn positioniert ist, so dass die in Längsrichtung verlaufenden Fibrillen zumindest im Wesentlichen gedehnt werden und die in Umfangsrichtung verlaufenden Fibrillen zumindest im Wesentlichen gefaltet werden, hergestellt werden. Auch kann der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Längsrichtung zwischen Knoten
2 , erhöht werden, und der Zwischenknotenabstand, gemessen in der Umfangsrichtung zwischen Knoten2 , kann verringert werden. Ein Stent, der einen Durchmesser größer als der kombinierte Durchmesser des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials besitzt, und der Dorn werden dann auf der Oberfläche des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials plaziert. Der dehnbare Stent wird radial zusammengezogen und ein Kontakt wird dann zwischen dem Stent und dem expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Material beibehalten, während die Abdeckung und der Stent auf eine Temperatur erwärmt werden, die von ungefähr 340°C bis ungefähr 390°C reicht, für eine Zeit, die von ungefähr 1 Minute bis ungefähr 15 Minuten reicht, um das expandierte Polytetrafluorethylen-Material an der diskontinuierlichen Wand des Stents anzubonden. Der gedehnte Stent wird dann gekühlt und von dem Dorn entfernt. - Die bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents der vorliegenden Erfindung kann auch durch Zusammenziehen in Längsrichtung des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials, vor dem Schritt eines Platzierens des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials auf dem Dorn, hergestellt werden.
- Die bevorzugte Ausführungsform des dehnbaren Stents der vorliegenden Erfindung kann auch durch Dehnen in Längsrichtung oder Strecken des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials vor dem Schritt eines Platzierens des expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Materials auf dem Dorn hergestellt werden. Ein gedehntes Polytetrafluorethylen-Band kann diagonal unter Spannung um zumindest einem teilweise gedehnten Stent herum gewickelt werden. Zusätzlich können zusammenziehbare und dehnbare Objekte von variierender Größe, Form, Nachgiebigkeit oder Dimension auch geeignet sein, in vorteilhafter Weise die expandierten Polytetrafluorethylen-Abdeckungen anzuwenden.
Claims (6)
- Dehnbare Prothese, die umfasst: a) eine nicht durchgängige Wand, die ein Lumen begrenzt, das so eingerichtet ist, dass es eine in Längsrichtung zusammengezogene Position und eine in Längsrichtung gedehnte Position einnimmt; und b) wenigstens eine Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen, die sich in Verbindung mit der nicht durchgängigen Wand dehnt und verdichtet, wobei die Schicht einen ersten durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand in einem freien Zustand hat, die Schicht aus Polytetrafluorethylen so an der Wand befestigt ist, dass sie einen zweiten durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung zusammengezogenen Position befindet, und der zweite durchschnittliche Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand kürzer ist als der erste durchschnittliche Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand.
- Prothese nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen I) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen 0 und 50 Mikrometern, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung zusammengezogenen Position befindet, und II) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen 50 und 150 Mikrometer hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung gedehnten Position befindet.
- Prothese nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen I) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen 5 und 45 Mikrometer hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung zusammengezogenen Position befindet.
- Prothese nach Anspruch 3, wobei die Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen I) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen 20 und 30 Mikrometer hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung zusammengezogenen Position befindet.
- Prothese nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen II) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen 60 und 140 Mikrometer hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung gedehnten Position befindet.
- Prothese nach Anspruch 5, wobei die Schicht aus expandiertem Polytetrafluorethylen II) einen durchschnittlichen Längs-Zwischenknotenabstand zwischen 80 und 120 Mikrometer hat, wenn sich die Wand in der in Längsrichtung gedehnten Position befindet.
