- HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNG
- Eine der derzeitigen Techniken zum Vorsehen eines drahtlosen lokalen Netzwerks (WLAN), welches weit verbreitete Verwendung erricht hat, ist der internationale Standard IFO/IEC Standard 8802-11, welcher auch ANSI/IEEE Standard 802.11 (hierin Standard 802.11) ist. Dieser Standard sieht eine einheitliche Spezifikation für eine Medienzugriffssteuerung (MAC = media access control) für ein drahtloses lokales Netzwerk und eine physikalische Schicht (PHÜ = physical layer) derart vor, dass Ausrüstung von mehreren Quellen zusammen arbeitet.
- Der 802.11 Standard ist nützlich für drahtlose lokale Netzwerke, welche in einer Einrichtung wie einem Laden, einer Fabrik, einem Forschungslaboratorium oder einer Universität zum Vorsehen von drahtloser Kommunikation zwischen einem stationären System, wie einem drahtgebunden Netzwerk oder einem Computer und Mobileinheiten verwendet werden kann. Das drahtgebundene Netzwerk beinhaltet einen oder mehrere Zugriffspunkte, welche mit dem drahtgebundenen Netzwerk oder Computer mit den Mobileinheiten unter Verwendung von Funksignalen schnittstellenmäßig verbunden sind. Die Mobileinheiten, welche portable Computer beinhalten können, welche einen drahtlosen Funkkaufsatz haben haben persönliche digitale Assistenten, Barcode-Scanner, Einrichtungen am Verkaufspunkt und Ähnliches, kommunizieren mit dem Zugriffspunkt zum Vorsehen von drahtlosem Zugriff auf das darunter liegende System.
- Es wurde derzeit eine Spezifikation entwickelt für das „Bluetoothsystem" zum Vorsehen von drahtloser Kommunikation über einen kürzeren Bereich, zum Beispiel Vorsehen von Kommunikation zwischen einem tragbaren Personalcomputer und einem Drucker oder anderen Einrichtungen. Die Bluetoothspezifikation wird beabsichtigt zum Vorsehen von weniger teurer Funkprotokolltechnologie zum Kommunizieren über kürzere Bereiche. Der Vorschlag der Bluetooth Spezifikation ist bei www.bluetooth.com verfügbar.
- Sowohl das 802.11 System wie auch das Bluetoothsystem werden in dem gleichen 2,4 GHz ISM Funkfrequenzband betrieben. Die Einrichtungen in beiden Systemen sind mobil, und können Spreizspektrumsignale über dem Frequenzbereich abstrahlen. Dementsprechend gibt es eine Möglichkeit für die Signale von einem System, welche mit der Übertragung in dem anderen System interferieren und Datenverlust verursachen. Auch ist es für viele Spezifikationen für eine Mobileinheit wünschenswert, dazu in der Lage zu sein, beide Systeme zu verwenden.

WO 99/29126 A1 - Es ist ein Ziel der vorliegenden Erfindung, eine Dualmodus-Mobileinheit vorzusehen, welche dazu in der Lage ist, sowohl in dem 802.11 System wie auch in einem Bluetoothsystem zur Kommunikation zwischen der Dualmodus-Mobileinheit und anderen Einheiten unter Verwendung von einem der Systeme betrieben zu werden.
- Es ist ferner ein Ziel der vorliegenden Erfindung, Verfahren vorzusehen, wobei 802.11 Systeme und Bluetoothsysteme ohne Signalinterferenz koexistieren können.
- ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DER ERFINDUNG
- In einem Aspekt der Erfindung wird ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Dualmodus-Mobileinheit vorgesehen, welche angeordnet ist zum Übertragen und Empfangen von Signalen, welche unter Verwendung von ersten und zweiten Drahtlosprotokollen wie IEEE 802.11 Protokoll und dem Bluetoothprotokoll betrieben werden. Die Mobileinheit wird unter dem ersten drahtlosen Protokoll betrieben. Die Mobileinheit verwendet das erste drahtlose Protokoll zum Reservieren eines Übertragungszeitintervalls in einem Rahmen des ersten drahtlosen Protokolls zum Zweck des Betreibens unter dem zweiten drahtlosen Protokoll. Während des reservierten Zeitintervalls wird die Mobileinheit unter dem zweiten drahtlosen Protokoll zum Senden und Empfangen von Signalen betrieben.
- Der Prozess des Reservierens von Übertragungszeit in dem ersten drahtlosen Protokoll wird bei einem ausgewählten Lastzyklus wiederholt, welcher gemäß dem Grad von Funkaktivität geändert werden kann, welcher durch das zweite drahtlose Protokoll verwendet wird.
- Für ein besseres Verständnis der vorliegenden Erfindung zusammen mit anderen und weiteren Zielen, wird Bezug genommen auf die folgende Beschreibung, wenn sie zusammen genommen wird mit den beigefügten Zeichnungen, und ihr Umfang wird in den angefügten Ansprüchen herausgestellt.

- Unter Bezugnahme auf
3 wird eine Konfiguration eines drahtlosen lokalen Netzwerks100 gezeigt, welches unter einem ersten Drahtlosprotokoll betrieben wird, wie Standard 802.11 zum Vorsehen eines drahtlosen lokalen Netzwerks, welches sich über ein gesamtes Geschäft, Ausbildungs- oder Forschungseinrichtung erstrecken kann. In dem ersten drahtlosen Netzwerk100 werden einer oder mehrere Zugriffspunkte102 vorgesehen, welche mit einem Hostcomputer verbunden sein können und drahtlose Datenkommunikationen zu allen oder einem Teil der Einrichtung liefern können. Typischerweise können drahtlose Einrichtungen unter Verwendung von Standard 802.11 mit Zugriffspunkten bei einem Bereich von bis zu 30 Metern kommunizieren, abhängig von der Gebäudekonfiguration und der Mehrpfadumgebung. In größeren Einrichtungen werden mehrfache Zugriffspunkte normalerweise vorgesehen und die mehrfachen Zugriffspunkte können mit einem Hostcomputer, und miteinander unter Verwendung eines drahtgebundenen Datennetzwerks verbunden sein. Das drahtlose lokale Netzwerk100 , wel ches in3 gezeigt ist, beinhaltet eine Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 , welche zum Kommunizieren mit dem Zugriffspunkt102 unter Verwendung des 802.11 Standards angeordnet ist, und auch zum Kommunizieren mit anderen Einheiten108 unter Verwendung eines zweiten drahtlosen Kommunikationsstandards, wie dem Bluetoothstandard. Die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 kann beispielsweise mit einem Drucker106 unter Verwendung des Bluetoothstandards kommunizieren. Sie kann auch mit dem Zugriffspunkt102 unter Verwendung des 802.11 Standards und mit der anderen Mobileinheit108 kommunizieren, welche in einem Bluetoothpiconet110 unter Verwendung des Bluetoothstandards ist. Die Zeichnung zeigt auch ein anderes Bluetoothpiconet115 , welches Einheiten112 und114 hat, welche miteinander ohne Interferenz mit dem drahtlosen lokalen Netzwerk100 kommunizieren. - Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft das Problem der Interferenz, welches auftreten kann zwischen den Kommunikationen der Mobileinheit
10 mit dem Zugriffspunkt102 unter Verwendung des 802.11 Standards und Kommunikationen, welche durch die Bluetootheinheit108 unter Verwendung des Bluetoothstandards durchgeführt werden können. Gemäß einem bevorzugten Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung ist die Mobileinheit10 zum Kommunizieren und Verwendung von beiden Standards angeordnet, und zum Koordinieren von Kommunikationen unter Verwendung des Bluetoothstandards mit den Kommunikationen unter Verwendung des 802.11 Standards. - Ein Blockdiagramm der Mobileinheit
10 ist in1 gezeigt. Der Kommunikationsteil der Mobileinheit10 beinhaltet ein HF Modul12 zum Vorsehen von Funkkommunikationen unter Verwendung des 802.11 Standards und ein zweites HF Modul14 zum Vorsehen von Funkkommunikationen unter Verwendung des Bluetoothstandards. Es ist zusätzlich ein Kommunikationsverarbeitungsmodul16 und ein digitales Prozessormodul18 vorgesehen. Das HF Modul12 beinhaltet einen Sender22 und einen Empfänger24 , welche beide mit einer Antenne26 verbunden sind. Der Sender22 antwortet auf Basisbandsignale, welche von dem Modul16 über die WLAN Funkschnittstelle34 vorgesehen werden. Übertragungsbasisbandsignale und empfangene Basisbandsignale werden demoduliert und moduliert durch das 802.11 Basisbandmodem38 , welches beispielsweise ein Alantromodem sein kann. Die Schnittstelle34 und das Modem38 sind konventionelle 802.11 Module. - Das Kommunikationsverarbeitungsmodul
16 ist auch mit dem HF Modul14 verbunden, welches den Bluetoothsender28 und den Bluetoothempfänger30 beinhaltet, welche mit einer Antenne32 verbunden sind. Es sei erkannt, dass eine einzige Antenne für beide HF Module vorgesehen sein kann, und sie kann zwischen den Modulen gemäß dem derzeitigen Betrieb umgeschaltet werden. - Das Kommunikationsverarbeitungsmodul
16 beinhaltet eine Bluetoothfunkschnittstelle36 und ein Bluetoothbasisbandmodem40 , wiederum folgend den Standards des Bluetoothsystems. - Modems
38 und40 sind mit einem konfigurierbaren Bitstromprozessor42 verbunden, welcher die 802.11 und Bluetoothbasisbandsignale empfängt, die Overheaddaten entfernt, die CRC berechnet, und die Nachrichtendaten zu dem first in – first out (FIFO) Speicher44 als digitale Datensignale liefert. Empfangene Basisbandsignale von dem Modem40 werden auch verarbeitet zum Vorsehen dieser in dem Rahmenformat von 802.11 Daten, welche ebenso zu dem FIFO Speicher44 geliefert werden. - Der konfigurierbare Bitstromprozessor
42 , welcher ein programmierbares feldprogrammierbares logisches Feld sein kann, ist angeordnet zum Bearbeiten der seriellen Bitströme für sowohl die Bluetooth- wie auch 802.11 Kommunikationen. Eine Konfiguration zum Empfangen von Signalen ist in5 gezeigt, wobei ein Multiplexer160 zur Verbindung zu den 802.11 und Bluetoothmodemempfangskanälen vorgesehen ist. Der Empfangsbetrieb wird durch eine endliche Zustandsmaschine162 gesteuert, welche die Logikelemente gemäß dem Kommunikationsformat steuert, und ebenso den Multiplexer160 steuert, wie durch gestrichelte Linien angezeigt ist. Seriell Strich zu Strich Parallelkonvertierer164 empfangen die Header- bzw. Vorspanndaten und konvertieren sie in Paralleldaten, welche in Registern166 gespeichert sind, wo sie durch die Zustandsmaschine162 zugegriffen werden können. Der empfangene Bitstrom wird ebenso zu einem Rahmensynchronisationsdetektor168 geliefert, und empfangene CRC Daten werden zu dem CRC Register170 geliefert, auf welche ebenso durch die Zustandsmaschine162 zugegriffen werden kann. Der Datenstrom wird zusätzlich zu dem Entwürfler172 , dem CRC Modul174 , welches die CRC Überprüfung gegen den empfangenen CRC Header durchführt, und dem seriell-zu-parallel Konvertierer146 geliefert, welcher die empfangenen Daten zu dem FIFO Speicher44 liefert. -
6 zeigt den logischen Betrieb eines Beispiels des konfigurierbaren Bitstromprozessors zum Betrieb in dem Übertragungsmodus. Die endliche Zustandsmaschine180 ist zum Erzeugen des ersten Rahmenheaders konfiguriert, welcher zu dem Register192 geliefert wird und nach seriell von parallel zu dem seriellen Konverter164 konvertiert wird. Die Rahmensynchronisation wird in dem Generator188 generiert und CRC wird berechnet und zu dem CRC Headerregister190 geliefert. Daten, welche übertragen werden sollen, werden von dem FIFO44 durch den parallel-zu-seriell Konvertierer182 ausgelesen, und CRC wird in CRC Logik184 berechnet. Vorwärtsfehlerkorrekturen wird in der Logik186 generiert. Die Zustandsmaschine180 steuert die logischen Einheiten zum Liefern des gesamten Übertragungspakets in geeigneter Reihenfolge zu dem ODER Gatter195 und das Paket wird geroutet, wenn der vollständige Bitstrom in dem geeigneten Format ist, und zwar zu den Übertragungsschaltkreisen von entweder dem 802.11 Modem38 oder dem Bluetoothmodem40 , durch den Multiplexer196 . - Die Schnittstelle
46 taktet die Signale für sowohl die 802.11 wie auch die Bluetoothsignale zu der Schnittstelle50 in dem digitalen Prozessor18 . Sowohl die 802.11 Datensignale wie auch die Bluetoothdatensignale werden in dem 802.11 Rahmenformat vorgesehen und in den Speicher58 mit willkürlichem Zugriff in dem digitalen Prozessor18 geladen. Der digitale Prozessor18 beinhaltet einen Prozessor56 , wie einen ARC oder ARM Mikroprozessor und Flashspeicher20 , welcher Programme zur MAC Pegeldigitalverarbeitung von sowohl 802.11 Signalen wie auch Bluetoothsignalen beinhaltet, welche in dem 802.11 Rahmenformat gekapselt sind, und liefert die Ausgabenachrichtendatensignale zu der Hostschnittstelle52 zur Übertragung zu dem Host60 . Ebenso werden Signale von dem Hostprozessor60 in das Rahmenformat des 802.11 Standards in dem digitalen Prozessor18 konvertiert und durch die Schnittstelle50 zu dem Kommunikationsverarbeitungsmodul16 geliefert. Digitale Signale, welche übertragen werden sollen, welche zu dem Modul16 in dem 802.11 Rahmenformat geliefert werden, sind in dem FIFO Speicher44 gespeichert und werden zu dem Schaltkreis42 geliefert. Der Schaltkreis42 berechnet und addiert die CRC Prüfdaten für entweder 802.11 oder Bluetoothformat. Wenn die Signale in 802.11 Format übertragen werden sollen, werden sie zu dem Modem38 geliefert, welches ein moduliertes Basisbandsignal zu der WLAN Funkschnittstelle34 zur Übertragung liefert. Wenn die Signale in Bluetoothformat übertragen werden sollen, entfernt der Schaltkreis42 das 802.11 Rahmenformat und liefert einen Datenbitstrom im Bluetoothformat zum Bluetoothbasisbandmodem40 , welches ein Basisbandsignal zu der Bluetoothfunkschnittstelle36 zur Übertragung durch den Sender28 vorsieht. - Es sei vom Fachmann verstanden, dass als eine Alternative zum Konvertieren der Bluetoothnachrichtendaten in das 802.11 Rahmenformat in dem Schaltkreis
42 , 802.11 Nachrichtendaten zu und von den Bluetoothrahmenformat im Schaltkreis42 konvertiert werden können. -
2 ist Zeitflussdiagramm korrespondierend zu einem 802.11 Rahmen, welches den bevorzugten Betrieb der Dualmoduseinheit10 von1 anzeigt, oder einer anderen Dualmodus-Mobileinheit, in Verbindung mit dem Koordinieren von Bluetoothbetrieben zum Verhindern von Interferenz mit 802.11 Übertragungen. Unter Bezugnahme auf3 wird es angenommen, dass die Mobileinheit11 mit dem Zugriffspunkt102 unter dem 802.11 Protokoll assoziiert ist. Um ein Fenster zum Betrieb unter dem Bluetoothprotokoll vorzusehen, sendet die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 eine Anfrage zum Senden (RTS = request to send) zu Signal70 zu dem Zugriffspunkt102 . Der Zugriffspunkt102 bestätigt mit einem klar zum Senden (CTS = clear to send) Signal72 , welches ein Zeitintervall zum Betrieb einer Übertragung von der Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 vorsieht. Das CTS Signal verursacht, dass andere Mobileinheiten, MU-a und MU-b, ihren Netzwerkzuordnungsvektor (NAV = network allocation vector) auf einen Wert setzen, welcher anzeigt, dass das Netzwerk während des Übertragungszeitintervalls beschäftigt sein wird, welches durch die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 angefragt wurde. Die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 sendet danach eine kurze Rahmen 802.11 Nachricht74 . Die kurze Rahmennachricht74 ist dazu gedacht, dass andere Mobileinheiten MU-a und MU-b glauben, dass die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 einen Rahmen von Daten unter Standard 802.11 sendet. Folgend auf diesen kurzen Rahmen74 konvertiert die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 in Bluetoothbetrieb als eine Mastereinheit und sendet eine Bluetoothanfrage75 , welche beispielsweise von einer Bluetootheinheit108 empfangen werden kann, welche mit einer Bluetoothantwort80 antwortet. Während eines Unterzeitintervalls82 werden Einheit10 und Einheit108 oder andere Bluetooth-Slaves in Bluetooth-Kommunikationen engagiert sein, worauf das Bluetooth-Standby Signal84 folgt. Bei dem Ende des Zeitintervalls, welches durch die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 reserviert wurde, sendet die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10 einen schlussendlichen 802.11 kurzen Rahmen86 , welcher die Vervollständigung ihrer Übertragung anzeigt. Dies ruft ein Bestätigungssignal88 von dem Zugriffspunkt802 hervor, welches gemäß dem 802.11 anzeigt, dass die Übertragung vervollständigt wurde. Danach fährt das System in normalem 802.11 Betrieb fort. Die Sequenz des Unterbrechens von 802.11 Verkehrs zu der Bluetoothaktivität kann bei einem Datenzyklus wiederholt werden, welcher gemäß der 802.11 und Bluetooth-Funkaktivität ausgewählt sein kann. - Ein zusätzliches Merkmal, welches optional durch die Konfiguration der vorliegenden Erfindung vorgesehen ist, ist, dass die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit
10 der vorliegenden Erfindung, welche die zugeordneten Slave-Einheiten in ihrem Piconet steuert, den Slave-Einheiten an dem Ende der Bluetoothfunkaktivität (Signal84 ) signalisieren kann, zu verursachen, dass die Slaves in ei nen „STANDBY"-Modus mit niedriger Leistung während der Zeit eintreten, während welcher die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit 802.11 Kommunikationen unternimmt. Die Dauer des Standbymodus kann eingestellt sein durch das Mastersignal, kann fest sein, oder kann durch eine Erneuerung der Bluetoothaktivität durch den Master beendet werden. - Unter Bezugnahme auf

Dementsprechend können 802.11 Übertragungen derart gesteuert werden, dass sie nicht während den Übertragungsintervallen auftreten, welche für Bluetoothaktivität durch entweder die Einheit134 ,136 oder10A reserviert sind. - Die Konfiguration von
4 erlaubt auch den Bluetootheinheiten134 und136 , Nachrichten zu anderen Bluetootheinheiten142 ,144 in einem unterschiedlichen Bluetooth-Piconet140 durch die zwei Dualmodus- Mobileinheiten10A und10B zu senden. Insbesondere kann eine Datennachricht von der Bluetooth-Mobileinheit134 zu Dualmodus-Mobileinheiten10A gesendet werden. Diese Nachricht kann unter Verwendung von 802.11 Kommunikation von der Mobileinheit10A durch den Zugriffspunkt102 zu der Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10B weitergeleitet werden. Danach kann die Dualmodus-Mobileinheit10B , dem Bluetoothprotokoll folgend, die weitergeleitete Nachricht zu der Bluetooth-Mobileinheit144 oder142 senden. Auf diesem Weg kann der Betreiber der Bluetooth-Mobileinheit134 Daten kommunizieren, welche durch den Bluetooth-Drucker142 ausgedruckt werden sollen, wenn die Mobileinheit134 nicht innerhalb des gleichen Bluetooth-Piconets wie der Drucker142 ist.
Claims (1)
- Ein Verfahren zum Betreiben von einer Dual-Modus-Mobileinheit (
10 ), welche geeignet ist, um Signale unter Verwendung von ersten und zweiten Drahtlosprotokollen zu senden und zu empfangen, wobei das Verfahren folgendes aufweist: Betreiben der Mobileinheit (10 ) in dem ersten Drahtlosprotokoll; Reservieren eines Sendezeitintervalls in einem Rahmen des ersten Drahtlosprotokolls; and Betreiben der Mobileinheit (10 ) in dem zweiten Drahtlosprotokoll während des reservierten Zeitintervalls, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Schritt des Reservierens eines Sendezeitintervalls mit einem ausgewählten Arbeits- bzw. Taktzyklus wiederholt wird, und der ausgewählte Arbeits- bzw. Taktzyklus variiert wird, und zwar basierend auf der Aktivität des Funkverkehrs unter Verwendung des zweiten Drahtlosprotokolls.
