Abstract
Description
B. punktuelle Anwendungen (z. B. Akupunktur) oder lokale Anwendungen (flächig, z. B. Heilungsbeschleunigung von Verbrennungen) in Gebrauch.The invention (method for irradiation with light pulses with one or more predefined or specifically variable parameters (average power, peak power, Pulse duration, repetition frequency), for example for therapeutic or cosmetic Application) relates to processes for irradiation with visible or invisible light from Objects, but also of humans, animals, plants or cells (e.g. generated by LEDs or laser diodes). This radiation can be medical or cosmetic Serve purposes, but also z. B. Accelerate or control growth processes. At the People are e.g. B. selective applications (e.g. acupuncture) or local applications (flat, e.g. acceleration of healing of burns) in use.
Furthermore, the method can also be used in other technical areas, e.g. B. for image acquisition of one of several light sources using the method Illuminated area, the area from different locations with light pulses different repetition frequencies, but comparable average powers irradiated becomes. The method can be used for example with a lock-in Night vision device or correspondingly equipped computer an image of the viewed object under different lighting (and corresponding, for example different Shadow cast), and thus a spatial image from a computer getting produced. For example, in a factory building, e.g. B. 100 light sources with pulsating light of comparable average power, but significantly different Repetition frequencies (e.g. 50 Hz to 100 kHz) is illuminated, machines or moving Robots through methods of image recognition a three-dimensional image of their respective gain closer surroundings and thereby move without collision.
The medical application of weak laser light (medium power roughly between 0.1 mW and 300 mW) was and is characterized by the available ones Laser diodes. Gas lasers no longer play a major role today. It started many years ago Use of pulse laser diodes which, in the case of very short times in which they emit laser light, can deliver very high powers of approx. 1 W to 200 W. The average power results from the pulse length (of approximately 200 ns = 0.0000002 s) and the repetition rate of the pulses of approximately 100 Hz to 10 kHz, for average power in the order of about 0.1 to 10 mW. On the one hand, by setting the repetition rate of the pulses, the average power changed. This method is used e.g. T. to achieve various medical effects used.
On the other hand, the repetition rate of the laser pulse itself apparently affects that medical effects, d. H. to achieve a certain effect there is a repetition rate predefined (e.g. frequencies according to Nogier, Bahr, or Elias, between approximately 1 Hz and 20 kHz). With a fixed control of the laser diode (e.g. 10 W) and a fixed pulse duration (e.g. 150 nsec) the mean power is thus fixed (here 0.0015 mW at 1 Hz or 30 mW at 20 kHz repetition rate) and different depending on the repetition frequencies.
Targeted studies on the differences in the medical effects of Light pulses of the same average power, either with duty cycles close to 1, or below 0.01 and each corresponding services are given, and for which the Repetition frequency of the pulses is varied, are not quite without prior art considerable effort possible.
State of the art are also laser devices that work with "cw" laser diodes. This laser diodes to be operated continuously (cw = continuous wave) operated with amplitude modulation, usually with a square wave signal Duty cycle 0.5 is operated (i.e. at a frequency of 1 kHz 0.5 ms each Light emission and 0.5 ms pause). The average power is then half "Peak performance" regardless of frequency. For some devices, the middle one is also Power adjustable. However, frequency and pulse duration vary in a constant, reciprocal Relationship.
The therapeutic effect of laser light is presumably through absorption of the light in molecules in cells that lead to (possibly locally) slightly changed electro-chemical Conditions. These can influence the regulating mechanisms of the cell. For explanation of the observed effects of different repetition frequencies one of the Repetition frequency-dependent effect on the control mechanisms of the cell, or else the Organism. Then this could also be influenced by other parameters of light, about the pulse length in relation to the average power.
So far, it has not been possible for a user with conventional devices, the two characteristic factors of light irradiation with laser pulses (the repetition rate and the average power) to be varied individually and specifically. This is possible with the here given invention. This not only improves the handling of the Laser therapy enables, but z. B. by increasing the average power low frequencies shorten the therapy time. This gives z. B. Savings in Practice operation. This is essentially without increased electrical power and without use enables new, more expensive laser diodes.
Fig. 1 is a sketch of the allowed behavior pulse power of a laser diode as a function of the pulse duration (by the manufacturer). The dashed line is also considered in a simplified manner. The maximum permitted value of the pulse power P max is inversely proportional to the root of the pulse duration t:
Pmax = Pmax(t=150 ns).(t/150 ns)-1/2 (1)
P max = P max (t = 150 ns) . (T / 150 ns) -1/2 (1)
Vary the parameters t and P for each repetition frequency f selected by the user as follows:
t proportional to f -2 and thus P proportional to f (2)
then the average power P m that is
Pm = f.t.P proportional zu f.f2.f = f0 (3)
P m = ftP proportional to ff 2 .f = f 0 (3)
gegeben ist, bei Wahl der Parameter nach (2) unabhängig von f.is given when choosing the parameters according to ( 2 ) regardless of f.
In contrast to this, according to the prior art, there would be an average power P m with fixed t (typically 150 ns) and fixed P = P max (t = 150 ns)
Pm = f.t.P = 150ns.Pmax(t=150 ns) proportional f (4)
P m = ftP = 150ns.P max (t = 150 ns) proportional f (4)
gegeben, proportional zur vom Benutzer gewählten Wiederholfrequenz f variiert.given, varies in proportion to the repetition frequency f selected by the user.

Fig. 2 shows a block diagram of a possible technical implementation of a laser irradiation device according to claim 1. The patient is irradiated with laser light which is generated by a laser diode ( 1 ) and the beam geometry and course of which may be influenced by optics. The laser diode ( 1 ) emits short light pulses, the strength of which depends on the level of the applied voltage U. This voltage U is set by a voltage regulator ( 2 ) which controls the charging of a capacitance C. This voltage regulator is in turn controlled by control electronics ( 3 ) (such as a microcontroller). The current flow is controlled by a current switch ( 4 ) (z. B. MOS-FET), which releases the discharge of the capacitor C via the laser diode ( 1 ) for a period determined by the timer ( 5 ). The control of the timer (S) in terms of time and duration is also carried out by the control electronics ( 3 ). This can determine the pulse duration, pulse power and the time of each pulse. This definition will be made by the control electronics according to the specifications of the user who, for. B. specifies the repetition frequency of the pulses and the average power. The control electronics must take into account:
- - die maximal erlaubte Pulsleistung der Laserdiode in Abhängigkeit von der Pulsdauer,The maximum permitted pulse power of the laser diode as a function of the pulse duration,
- - die Abhängigkeit der Pulsleistung von der angelegten Spannung,- the dependence of the pulse power on the applied voltage,
-
- erforderliche Pausen zwischen zwei Pulsen,
alles z. B. auch abhängig von- required breaks between two pulses,
everything z. B. also depends on - - der ggf gemessenen Temperatur des Gehäuses der Laserdiode,- the temperature of the housing of the laser diode, if any,
The measured light intensity of the laser diode (also as a possibility for determination the temperature inside the laser diode),
If necessary, the measured or expected state of charge of the capacitor C or its Change during a pulse.
An alternative technical implementation of the method considered here is also included Laser diodes available today are possible, the high powers (e.g. 1 W) continuously (i.e. in "cw-" operation). These laser diodes can be operated modulated by they z. B. with the above frequencies on and off in such a way that the duty cycle one retains a fixed value (e.g. 0.01) and the pulse power is constant. This is how short times arise Laser activity that corresponds to the above laser pulses (e.g. 0.01 s at repetition rates of 1 Hz or 0.000005 s at 20 kHz). This gives you a variable repetition rate at fixed medium power. The latter can e.g. B. additionally varied by varying the duty cycle become. These laser diodes enable a relatively simple technical solution to this Invention presented method, however, are compared to pulse laser diodes disproportionately expensive and large. Less expensive and smaller laser diodes are smaller cw power available, which is higher to achieve comparable medium performance Duty cycle (e.g. = 0.5) required. This compares with the one presented here Procedure significantly increases the pulse duration. This can e.g. B. to changed photo-electrical Chemical reactions within a cell during the pulse duration result in a medically desired stimulation. When capturing images, would such a system with high duty cycles, compared to the one presented here Processes, overlaying and practically continuously overlaying many of the light "pulses" from different sources thereby complicating an evaluation.
In particular, the method presented here does not claim any significant additional financial or spatial expense compared to devices with pulse Laser diodes, at least considerably less than when using cw laser diodes Power that is in the order of magnitude of the pulse power of the pulse laser diodes.
