Die Warmluftzufuhr erfolgt allgemein über Lüftungskanäle, die im Bereich der Cockpit-Verkleidung Austrittsöffnungen und Klappen aufweisen. Die Funktion eines derartigen Heizungssystems ist in einem geschlossenen Cockpit durchaus befriedigend, da hier die Strömungsverhältnisse frei von äußeren Einflüssen sind. Anders hingegen verhält es sich bei offenen Fahrzeugen, wie Cabriolets, aber auch offenen Motorboot- oder Leichtflugzeugcockpits. Bei derartigen Cockpits wird der Fahrtwind durch die Windschutzscheibe nach oben abgelenkt und der Luftstrom oberhalb des Fahrzeuges somit stark beschleunigt. Dort reißt die sehr schnell strömende Luft in dem Übergangsbereich zu der vergleichsweise gering bewegten Luft des darunter befindlichen Cockpits eine gewisse Luftmenge mit, wodurch im Fahrzeuginneren ein Unterdruck entsteht. Dieser Unterdruck bewirkt im hinteren Fahrzeugbereich eine teilweise Umkehr der Strömung, die dann im Bereich der Sitze und auch zwischen den Sitzen nach vorne verläuft (Rückströmung). Diese an sich nicht unerwünschte Rückströmung, die einen Teil des Cabrio-Fahrgefühls ausmacht, führt zu einem kühlen Luftzug im Kopf-Nacken-Schulterbereich, was nicht nur bei niedrigen Außentemperaturen zu Unterkühlung und Gesundheitsschäden führen kann.Such heating systems in motor vehicles are either regulated on the air side, d. Die Steuerung der Warmluft und der Temperatur erfolgt dabei erfindungsgemäß über Luftklappen, Warmwasserregulierungsventile bzw. Beispielsweise können die Rahmenrohre der Rückenlehne als Luftkanäle ausgebildet sein, was lediglich einen entsprechenden Anschlußstutzen erforderlich macht. Aber auch zusätzliche Lüftungskanäle, die an der Rückseite der Rückenlehne bzw. an einem gesonderten Träger hinter der Rückenlehne angebracht sind, sind geeignet.
