技术领域
本发明一般地涉及网际协议电视(“IPTV”)系统。更特别地,并且不作为任何限制,本发明针对一种用于在IPTV系统中实现频道改变的系统和方法。
背景技术
IPTV已经成为使用诸如DSL(数字用户线)之类的宽带连接、基于网际协议将电视信号和/或视频信号分发给订户的系统的共同点。一般而言,IPTV系统使用通过宽带连接(例如DSL)发送的数字广播信号和编程有软件的机顶盒(“STB”),该软件能够处理关于经由连接到STB的电视来访问媒体资源的订户请求。STB中的解码器处理对接收到的IP视频信号进行解码并将其变换为用于在电视上显示的标准电视信号的任务。
由于DSL是带宽受限的媒介,因此在IPTV网络中改变频道必需在能够完成频道改变的速度与紧接在频道改变请求之后呈现给订户的视频质量之间进行折中。一种解决方案是针对每个频道生成两个视频流,其中一个视频流(“正常视频流”)提供正常的观看质量(即分辨率)但具有通过扩展所传送视频流中的I帧之间的时间段而进行压缩的比特率。第二个视频流(“伴随视频流”)是具有较低视频质量和较低比特率的下采样流,但其包含具有较高速率的I帧。响应于频道改变请求,数字用户线接入复用器(“DSLAM”)立即切换到所请求信道的伴随视频流,从而确保将I帧迅速地传递给机顶盒的视频解码器,使得该解码器能够尽可能快地显示新的频道。在这种方法中,DSLAM负责在某个预定的时间段之后切换到正常视频流,在该点处,正常视频流将被提供给STB解码器用于解码和显示。
前述解决方案具有几个缺点。首先,该解决方案需要DSLAM维护关于频道改变动作的状态信息,实现定时器,并对定时器到期采取动作以执行频道改变过程的另一半(即终止伴随视频流的传输并将正常视频流提供给STB)。其次,如果正常视频流和伴随视频流没有在I帧边界处清楚地切换,该解决方案会导致STB视频解码器错误解释该情形。此外,如果在图片组(“GOP”)的中间切换正常视频流和伴随视频流,则解码器可能不能在不中断的情况下处理视频。最后,该解决方案可能需要DSLAM知道I帧在视频流中的位置,从而对DSLAM增加了高级别的复杂度和成本。
发明内容
因此,在此给出了一种用于在IPTV系统中实现频道改变操作的方法和系统。
一种实施方式是一种在网际协议电视(“IPTV”)系统中实现频道改变的方法,该IPTV系统包括连接在TV和接入网之间的机顶盒(“STB”)。该方法包括:响应于观看新频道的请求,STB向接入网发送加入包括用于新频道的正常视频流以及伴随视频流的IP多播组对的控制消息;以及响应于接收到该控制消息,接入网向STB发送正常视频流和伴随视频流。

现在将参考关于如何最好地进行和使用本发明的各种实例来描述本发明的实施方式。贯穿说明书和附图的多个视图而使用相同参考标号来表示相同或相应的部分,其中各单元不一定是按比例绘制的。
图1是根据一种实施方式的IPTV网络100的系统框图。如图1所示,广播视频源(BVS)102经由吉比特以太网(“GigE”)连接103连接到包括数字用户线接入复用器(“DSLAM”)104的接入网。BVS 102执行多描述编码;也就是说,其为可用于供订户选择的多个广播频道中的每个广播频道进行正常视频流以及相应的伴随视频流编码。经由GigE连接103或适合于承载IP分组复用的视频数据流的其他类似的传输媒介将由BVS 102编码的所有视频流提供给DSLAM 104。在此使用时,术语“视频数据流”是指用于传递TV服务的对终端用户来说明显的服务级别。IP多播是在IPTV系统中用以帮助传递广播TV频道信号或广播信号的方法。DSLAM 104的作用是将诸如DSL调制解调器106之类的一个或多个DSL调制解调器连接到连接103。

频道改变是响应于TV观众例如通过使用与STB 108相关联的遥控器112或其他频道选择装置选择要在TV 110上显示的新的广播频道而出现的一种功能。图2描述了示出用于在诸如网络100之类的IPTV网络中实现频道改变操作的一个实施方式的操作的流程图。在步骤200中,STB 108接收到频道改变请求。在步骤202中,STB 108向DSLAM 104发送离开当前正在观看的频道的控制消息(即,离开现有频道)。同时,STB 108向DSLAM 104发送加入包括用于新选择的频道的正常视频流以及用于新选择的频道的伴随视频流的IP多播组对的控制消息(即,加入/加入到所选择的IP多播组对)。
在步骤204中,响应于接收到在步骤202中发送的控制消息,DSLAM 104终止向用于STB 108的DSL接入设备传输用于当前频道的正常视频流并开始经由DSL调制解调器106向STB 108传输用于新选择的频道的正常视频流和伴随视频流(即,更新用于IP多播组对的转发表)。
将认识到,如上所述,在一种实现中,响应于来自STB 108的加入命令,DSLAM通过首先加入到包括用于新频道的伴随视频流的多播组而将该命令关联到对用于新频道的视频的传递进行循环的处理。然后,在某个时延之后,DSLAM 104终止到该多播组的连接并加入到包括用于新频道的正常视频流的多播组。在步骤206中,STB 108对用于新选择的频道的伴随视频流进行解码和显示。
在步骤208中,进行STB 108是否已经在正常视频流中检测到I帧的判断。如果STB 108还没有在正常视频流中检测到I帧,则执行停留在步骤208处;否则,执行前进到步骤210。在步骤210中,STB 108向DSLAM 104发送从伴随视频流离开的控制消息(即,离开IP多播组)。在接收到该消息后,DSLAM 104终止向STB 108传输伴随视频流(即,更新用于IP多播组的转发表)。在步骤212中,STB 108对用于新选择的频道的正常视频流进行解码和显示。
在此描述的实施方式的一个优点是DSLAM在频道改变控制消息从STB到达时对其采取动作并且不必执行对频道改变视频流进行循环的处理。
在此描述的实施方式的另一个优点是STB视频解码器能够对两个视频流之间的转换定时进行协调以确保无故障(glitchless)的视频显示。
可以确信,根据以上给出的详细描述,本发明的操作和构造是明确的。尽管已经将所示出和描述的本发明的示例性实施方式描述为是优选的,但应当容易理解,在不偏离以下权利要求中所给出的本发明范围的情况下,可以在其中进行各种改变和修改。

Claims (10)

1.一种在网际协议电视系统中实现频道改变的方法,所述网际协议电视系统包括连接在电视和接入网之间的机顶盒,所述方法包括:
响应于观看新频道的请求,所述机顶盒向所述接入网发送加入包括用于所述新频道的正常视频流以及伴随视频流的IP多播组对的控制消息;以及
响应于接收到所述控制消息,所述接入网向所述机顶盒发送所述正常视频流和所述伴随视频流。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括所述机顶盒在接收到所述伴随视频流后对其进行解码和显示。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,还包括响应于由所述机顶盒在其接收到的正常视频流中检测到I-帧,所述机顶盒:
终止对所述伴随视频流的解码和显示;以及
对所述正常视频流进行解码和显示。
4.根据权利要求3所述的方法,还包括响应于在所述正常视频流中检测到I帧,所述机顶盒向所述接入网发送从所述伴随视频流离开的控制消息。
5.根据权利要求4所述的方法,还包括响应于接收到从所述伴随视频流离开的控制消息,所述接入网终止向所述机顶盒传输所述伴随视频流。
6.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括与所述机顶盒向所述接入网发送加入IP多播组对的控制消息的同时,所述机顶盒发送离开当前正在观看的频道的控制消息。
7.一种用于网际协议电视系统的机顶盒,包括:
用于响应于接收到观看新频道的请求而向接入网发送加入包括用于所述新频道的正常视频流以及伴随视频流的IP多播组对的控制消息的装置;
用于从所述接入网接收所述正常视频流和所述伴随视频流的装置;以及
用于在与所述机顶盒相关联的电视上接收到所述伴随视频流后对其进行解码和显示的装置。
8.根据权利要求7所述的机顶盒,还包括用于在由所述机顶盒接收到的正常视频流中检测I帧的装置,其中响应于所述I帧检测,所述机顶盒:
终止对所述伴随视频流的解码和显示;以及
开始对所述正常视频流进行解码和显示。
9.根据权利要求8所述的机顶盒,其中还响应于所述I帧检测,所述机顶盒向所述接入网发送从所述伴随视频流离开的控制消息。
10.根据权利要求7所述的机顶盒,其中所述机顶盒集成在所述相关联的电视中。
