发明背景
已经可以获得若干类型的烘干机织物软化剂。一类可获得的烘干机织物软化剂呈烘干机薄片形式。该烘干机薄片与湿衣物一起置于烘干机中。该薄片往往是包含有固体组合物的无纺织物,其中所述固体组合物中包括织物软化剂和香料。在干燥循环过程中,随着衣物的干燥温度增加,导致织物软化剂熔融并由无纺薄片转移到衣物中。烘干机薄片通常只能使用一次。如果烘干机薄片与一件衣物纠缠在一起,则在衣物的一部分上过度沉积可能会导致形成“色斑”。色斑是其中浓织物软化剂在衣物上产生暗斑的情况。对于某些烘干机薄片产品来说,人们相信,织物软化剂的分配主要是由烘干机中熔融烘干机薄片上的织物软化剂的热量所引起的。人们相信,当烘干机中温度增加时,这主要发生在接近于干燥循环结束的时候。

发明概述

发明详述
本发明提供一种用于烘干机的织物软化剂组合物。说得再简单些,该织物软化剂组合物可以称为组合物,并且可以以能够有效地多次使用的形式提供。多次使用,意思是在需要替换它之前,组合物可用于在至少两个衣物干燥循环中向衣物输送希望量的织物软化剂。应当理解的是,术语“衣物”是指洗衣操作中任意的纺织品或织物。
在其中可以使用本发明织物软化剂组合物的烘干机包括使用热和搅拌从衣物中除去水的任何类型的烘干机。示范性的烘干机包括滚筒型烘干机,其中衣物被装载到转鼓内,这种转鼓使衣物在烘干机操作过程中翻滚。滚筒型烘干机通常在居家以及商业和工业洗衣操作中使用。
我们相信,本发明的织物软化剂组合物在烘干机的干燥循环过程中,通过与熔融织物软化剂组合物不同的机理将织物软化有效量的织物软化剂组分释放到衣物上。我们相信,织物软化有效量的织物软化剂组分由于湿衣物与织物软化剂组合物在烘干机中接触而转移到衣物上。确切的转移机理还不十分明确,但我们相信,转移可能是由于湿衣物与织物软化剂组合物在烘干机的翻滚操作过程中接触,使得湿衣物溶解一部分织物软化剂组合物和/或把一部分织物软化剂组合物擦下来擦到湿衣物上造成的。在衣物干燥时,预计织物软化剂组合物中较少量的织物软化剂组分将转移到衣物上。
织物软化剂组合物包括织物软化剂组分和载体组分。织物软化剂组分提供织物软化性能。织物软化剂组分可以另外使衣物具有防静电性能。载体组分与织物软化剂组分混合,并有助于阻止织物软化剂组分在干燥操作过程中通过熔融转移到衣物上。载体组分的选择使得织物软化剂组合物的熔点或软化点高于烘干机的操作温度。在大多数的烘干机操作中,这意味着织物软化剂组合物的熔融温度高于90℃。织物软化剂组合物的熔融温度或软化温度可以高于约95℃,高于约100℃,高于约110℃,或高于约120℃。织物软化剂组合物的熔融温度可以低于200℃。织物软化剂组合物的熔融温度是指该组合物在其自重下开始流动的温度点。当织物软化剂组合物达到其熔点时,人们将观察到组合物经历由固体离散物质转变成可流动液体的过程。

织物软化剂组合物中可以包括的另外的组分包括增塑剂和香料。
织物软化剂组合物可以通过将织物软化剂组分和载体组分以及任何另外希望的组分在足以熔融所有组分的温度下混合来制备。混合步骤优选在超过约100℃的温度下进行。一般说来,组分不应该在会损害或者使组合物中组分变色的如此高的温度下混合。对于织物软化剂组合物的许多组分来说,混合温度可以低于约180℃。示范性的混合范围是约120℃-约150℃。只要组分被充分混合,即可将组合物成型得到所需的形式。得到的形式为固态整体结构。示范性的形式包括块或条形,它们可以置于烘干机中,以使织物软化剂组合物的表面在干燥操作过程中暴露于衣物上。示范性的形式包括矩形块和矩形条。另外的形式包括半圆柱形,为了分配得更好,裸露表面和边缘呈曲线或者为圆形。形成的织物软化剂组合物可以具有至少约5克大小。当提供的织物软化剂组合物大小至少约5克时,预计它将能在多次烘干机循环中为衣物提供织物软化和/或防静电性能。示范性的大小大约是30克约170克。
织物软化剂组分和载体组分可以混合在一起形成织物软化剂组合物,这种织物软化剂组合物在置于烘干机内时,可在干燥循环过程中释放希望量的织物软化剂组分。示范性的织物软化剂组分与载体组分的重量比在约1∶19-约19∶1之间。织物软化剂组分与载体组分的比例可以在约1∶10-约10∶1之间,还可以在约3∶7-约9∶1之间。应当理解的是,当提到织物软化剂组分时,是指用于提供织物软化性能的组分,并不意味着包括可以与织物软化剂组分一起存在的介质。也就是说,织物软化剂组分在市售时可以处于介质中,这种介质可以是溶剂或表面活性剂。此外,所述介质可以与载体组分相同或不同。
织物软化剂组合物可以附着于烘干机内部。织物软化剂组合物可以附着在转筒式烘干机的烘干机肋片上,以便组合物在干燥操作过程中与湿衣物接触。我们相信,湿衣物和所形成的组合物在接触时会导致织物软化剂组分转移到湿衣物上。我们相信,组合物可以通过托架,如美国专利申请序号___公开的托架附着于烘干机内部,这一专利申请是2002年4月10日提交的(可通过代理人标号117P45US01确认),其全部内容在此引入作为参考。
在干燥循环过程中,织物软化剂组合物将释放充分量的织物软化剂组合物,以提供所需程度的软化性能,并且如果希望的话,还提供防静电性能。另外,织物软化剂组合物不应该释放太多的织物软化剂组分,这样的话,将导致在衣物上产生色斑。预计,在干燥循环过程中,织物软化剂组合物的损失将在每磅干燥衣物约0.01-约1.0克织物软化剂组合物之间。每一干燥循环的损失量可以在每磅干燥衣物约0.02-0.75克织物软化剂组合物之间,还可以在每磅干燥衣物约0.05-0.50克织物软化剂组合物之间。当烘干机的烘干速度调节到30磅的衣物干燥能力时,衣物的干重通常是约15磅。在这种情况下,大小为约150克的一块织物软化剂组合物预计每一干燥循环损失约1.5克,并可以在100个循环中提供软化。应当理解的是,烘干机的尺寸和织物软化剂组合物的尺寸可以根据烘干机类型及干燥条件的不同而变化。例如,在大规模洗衣店、居家或消费者环境中通常使用的烘干机有各种各样的尺寸。
实施例1
在表1中列出十七种用于烘干机并提供抗静电和软化性能的织物软化剂组合物。提供的组合物为固体,熔点高于100℃。

得到了表1中某些织物软化组合物的初步分配速率,其示于表的底部。在每一试验中,织物软化组合物都涂在塑料载体上,然后塞到附着在烘干机肋片上的分配器上的某一位置。在干重30磅的厚绒布毛巾的多次标准洗涤和干燥循环之后,通过重量差得到平均分配速率。
在干燥循环过程中可以释放希望量的织物软化组合物,以提供织物软化性能。在这一实施例中,通过重量损失测定产品的分配。通过与当前的液体软化剂比较,开发出用于固体织物软化剂的大约的剂量需求。当前的液体软化剂每循环输送75-150ppm软化剂。例如,含6%活性软化剂、推荐剂量为2-3oz/100wt.(在洗衣机中的100磅干重亚麻布)的液体衣物软化剂将输送以下ppm的活性软化剂:
为了进行比较,含45%活性软化组分,在烘干机中分配速率为每循环4克的目标固体织物软化组合物,将输送以下ppm的活性软化剂:
关于表1,组合物10满足这些标准。
进一步通过运行20个循环试验来对组合物10进行试验,检验其发黄和软化。对于这一试验,不包含光学增亮剂的液体洗涤剂用于洗涤周期。为了检验白度保持力,在测定白度指数(WI)和发黄指数(YI)之前,在Hunter Lab Instrument上对8条新的白色厚绒布毛巾进行读数。10、15和20个循环之后,除去毛巾,在Hunter Lab Instrument上再次读出WI和YI数值。20个循环试验的结果表明,织物软化组合物的平均量为每循环4.19克(表2)。20个循环之后,所有的毛巾都具有黄-绿色外观,其WI和YI显而易见大规模降低(表3)。

表1组合物17中使用的织物软化剂组分可以被认为不发黄。该织物软化剂组分可以名称Varisoft 110-75%获得,其中包括75%的甲基二(氢化牛脂酰胺基乙基)-2-羟乙基铵甲基硫酸盐,和25%的异丙醇。我们相信,在织物软化组合物17的熔融混合和印模过程中,如果不是全部的话,大多数异丙醇都蒸发掉了。用组合物17重复20个循环试验。在这一试验中使用15磅的干燥厚绒布毛巾,并且在20个循环前后读出WI和YI。使用这一配方的平均重量损失是0.976克/循环。这折算一下,大约是每循环54.5ppm活性织物软化剂组分。

实施例3
另外的织物软化组合物参见表6。组合物23包括以名称VarisoftDS-110获得的不发黄的织物软化剂组分,其中包括70%的甲基二(氢化牛脂酰胺基乙基)-2-羟乙基铵甲基硫酸盐,和30%的脂肪醇乙氧基化物。织物软化季铵化合物是在醇乙氧基化物介质中制造的。

进行以下实施例来评价本发明织物软化剂组合物的防静电性能。通过用Keithley Instruments公司型为610C的静电计以库仑为单位测定电荷来确定防静电性能。在处于大小为31加仑的第二圆筒内的大小为20加仑的第一圆筒之间测定电荷。从烘干机取出厚绒布毛巾,并一次一条地将其放入20加仑的圆筒中,测定两个圆筒之间的电荷。

Claims (53)

(a)将织物软化剂组合物附着在烘干机的内壁上,其中织物软化剂组合物包括织物软化剂组分和载体组分的熔融混合结果,这两种组分是在织物软化剂组分与载体组分的重量比为约1∶19-约19∶1的条件下熔融混合的,熔融混合得到熔点高于90℃的织物软化剂组合物;和
(b)在织物软化剂组合物的存在下在烘干机中干燥衣物。
51.根据权利要求50的方法,其中织物软化剂组合物在每一干燥循环中的损失在每磅干燥衣物约0.01克-约1.0克之间。
52.根据权利要求50的方法,其中烘干机包括转筒式烘干机。
53.根据权利要求50的方法,其中织物软化剂组合物的大小至少为约5克。
