背景技术
近年来，通过连接到相对低成本、高速度的双向网络，提高了大众访问有价值的娱乐内容的能力，这刺激广告商利用这样的系统向这些网络的用户宣传商品和服务。

发明内容
本发明的总目的是提供一种系统和方法，通过可移动本地存储器，例如DVD，CD-ROM盘，可以使用广告或附属内容。可移动本地存储器要插入到客户机系统中，客户机系统通过双向网络连到指定内容提供商，其中，客户机系统包括用于启动所要看的附属内容(例如广告)的控制功能，由顾客选择，顾客访问只由内容提供商维护的基本内容数据库来的有价值的内容。
本发明的另一个目的是提供如上所述的系统和方法，其中顾客数据库保留在服务器站中，包含访问服务器站的用户识别信息，其中，这样的识别信息可下载到客户机系统中，以便只有基于用户识别数据定制的附属信息可被下载和查看。

具体实施方式

本发明的各方面可以在一个或一个以上的计算机上执行软件指令来实现。依据本发明的一个实施例，服务器和客户计算机系统通过计算机网络或标准电话线来传送和接收数据。通过中央处理器(CPU)在服务器和客户计算机上执行存储在存储器中的指令序列来实现访问、下载、操作数据的步骤以及本发明的其它方面。存储器可以是随机存取存储器(RAM)，只读存储器(ROM)，持久存储器，例如大容量存储设备，或这些设备的任何组合。执行指令序列使得CPU依据本发明的实施例执行步骤。
可以从存储设备或一个或一个以上的计算机系统通过网络连接将指令加载到服务器或客户计算机的存储器中。例如，客户计算机可以响应服务器通过网络传输给客户的信息，将指令序列传送给服务器计算机。在服务器通过网络连接接收到指令时，它将指令存储在存储器中。服务器可以存储将来执行的指令，或可在指令通过网络连接到达时执行指令。在一些情况下，下载的指令可由CPU直接支持。在另一些情况下，指令不可以由CPU直接执行，代之以解释指令的解释器来执行。在其它实施例中，硬件电路可以用于代替软件指令或与软件指令相结合实现本发明。因此，本发明不限于硬件电路和软件电路的任何具体结合，也不限于任何用于由服务器或客户计算机执行的指令的特殊信息源。
下载管理系统和服务器结构

相应的，图3的最初三个步骤，建立通信，步骤302，发送用户ID，步骤304，和发送用户对基本内容的要求，步骤306是精确反映了图2的步骤202，204，208的下载管理服务器的行为的客户端步骤，不再另行描述。下一个客户端步骤，步骤308，开始显示存储在本地存储设备中的附属内容。作为该步骤结果显示的附属内容可以是预设的附属内容，或依据客户机系统的客户端上产生的喜好和程序进行选择；另外，附属内容可以是恰在提供附属内容之前按发行人喜好和通过网络传送的程序来命令。作为这种客户端程序的具体实例，可以在用户信息中含有的不同数据(它也可包括当前要求的基本内容信息)和附加有每个附属内容的触发数据之间进行比较，对于发现符合的项目，提出附属内容。然后，附属内容项目与基本内容一起显示/执行。
然后，客户机系统接收要求的基本内容，如步骤310中所示。在接收到该内容后，在步骤312中，客户证实是否发送了所有要求的基本内容。如果未发送所有要求的基本内容，客户机系统将保持从下载管理服务器接收要求的内容的状态。但是，一旦发送了所有内容，客户进行最后两个操作。首先，客户停止显示存储在本地存储设备中的附属内容，步骤314，然后，在最后一步316中，断开与下载管理服务器的通讯连接。
下载管理系统功能
在操作最佳实施例期间，客户机系统120接收和下载指定的基本内容，其中，如上讨论的那样，下载的基本内容存储在本地存储媒体(如硬盘驱动器HDD或任何可想到的外加可重写存储媒体)上。在下载期间提供的附属内容可以是：(1)与基本内容具体相关的固定内容，(2)在下面马上会详细讲到的基于用户或发行人喜好的可变内容，和/或(3)在服务器端或客户端选择的可变内容，这在下面将更详细地描述。
在这些最佳实施例中，提供的附属内容可以一个或一个以上的用户喜好，一个或一个以上的发行人喜好，或用户和发行人喜好信息的结合为基础来变化。按用户喜好，使用预先获得的信息或让用户从具体内容项目和内容分类中进行选择；如果没有可用或被选的用户喜好，提供预设内容。按发行人喜好，在发送所要求的基本内容之前，下载管理服务器给用户发送附属内容分配数据，依据该数据，客户计算机再现存储在本地存储器中的适当的附属内容。
在所有实施例中，内容可以分类，以帮助特殊用户和其它功能选择适当的内容。例如，内容可以分类为：(1)图像，电影数据，和其它视听内容，(2)音乐，(3)游戏，如视频游戏软件，(4)顾客调查，和/或(5)抽签，或相关的互动查询数据。关于这些顾客调查和抽签，互动的用户结果发送给下载管理服务器，并可用成许多优点，例如帮助选择附属内容或获得修改的顾客状况。
在操作另一最佳实施例期间，客户机系统120接收与附带用户信息一起的下载基本内容，附带用户信息由下载管理服务器用用户识别码(下面将详细描述)获得。用户识别码可以为下载管理服务器提供足够的数据，以从广泛围的(如通过分类用户如何获得一件可移动存储媒体)到很具体的(如从未来的顾客的邮寄清单中的个别用户)范围进行识别。访问软件首先访问并登录符合下载的用户信息和/或下载的基本内容的一个或一个以上的互动或非互动附属内容文件。更具体地，在用户信息和含在每个附属内容中的“触发数据”之间进行比较，如果含在触发数据中的数据与用户信息符合，就在客户机系统120中登录附属内容项目和排列再现读数。
另外，对具体基本内容的给定要求还可产生具体附属内容的登录和排列。例如，这些附属内容，可以是互动内容，其中许多问题可以问到或监控其他用户行为，然后，形成部分下载记录并用于修改顾客数据库170中的顾客信息。在非互动内容的情况下，已经被看过的广告信息此后可用于修改顾客信息。
通常，在最佳实施例中，可移动存储媒体152存储包括由客户机系统的用户查看的附属内容的数据，其中，附属内容由多个均具有一组附带的触发数据的内容项目构成。可移动存储媒体152还可以安装独特的媒体识别部分，它用于识别可移动存储媒体自身(如字母数字式CD-ROM/DVD序列号)，及用于识别对下载管理服务器110的访问的识别码，它还可建立用于使用了客户机系统120中的可移动存储媒体152的用户的用户识别符。可以想象，媒体标识码和识别码可以相同，虽然最好由分别的代码来帮助执行服务器访问和存储媒体/顾客识别的功能。或者，媒体识别部分可以包括软件程序，软件程序产生与提示用户输入用户的原始用户数据(如姓名，地址等)相关的独特的用户标识符。应该理解，一旦媒体识别与用户数据相关，媒体识别以用户标识符来操作，所以这些术语在下文中可以互换使用。
在任何实施例中，用户标识码和授权码还共同作为启动关键字，通过它由下载管理服务器110授权访问给定的基本内容。更具体地，当媒体标识码加载到服务器110时，根据这个代码，服务器110可以在用户标识符基础上确定基本内容数据库160的多个内容中的哪个基本内容可授权用户访问。如果这样的媒体标识符不存在，或被认为是错误或过期的，就中止访问基本内容。因此，在客户机系统中必须有正确的可移动存储媒体152，必须确定正确且未过时的可移动存储媒体标识符，以授权访问服务器110。另一种可能是，授权码提供对给定服务器的访问，以便从基本内容数据库160的多个内容中下载指定的基本内容。
可移动存储媒体152还可以包括指示想要的可移动存储媒体152以便与网络环境中的服务器相互作用的网络访问数据段。该指示器自己可包括网络访问软件，它启动必要的网络连接，或可以简单地包括标志，标志用于指示客户机系统120中的网络软件应被装入和执行。在以下情况下，客户机系统120中的网络软件可以包括小程序，小程序用于建立最小网络连接，以使得从服务器下载更多方面的网络软件和在客户机系统120中执行它们。
在想要给定用户只能下载可用的基本内容中的一些的环境下，可以只给用户显示那些授权他下载和查看的基本内容的菜单选择，这些基本内容来自包含在基本内容数据库160中的所有项目之中，因此能帮助用户选择。当菜单选择可作为来自可移动存储媒体152执行的菜单程序的一种功能时，服务器端下载管理服务器110能以媒体标识码为基础控制可下载哪个基本内容。换句话说，用户不能要求未对可用媒体标识码授权的基本内容。
在最广泛的最佳实施例中，当下载要求的基本内容时，再现附属内容。在下载基本内容期间，用客户机系统操作存储在本地存储设备中的附属内容，直到完成下载基本内容。可以理解，以本领域技术人员的知识范围，应考虑实现附属和基本内容的其它模式。例如，附属内容载可以在基本内容运行前回放，以便直到看过附属内容或运行其过程之后，用户才被允许看基本内容，例如在互动内容的情况中与用户交互作用。基本和附属内容之间的互动也是可能的。例如，在基本内容是互动游戏的情况下，基本内容中的角色外貌，场景或其它数据项目可用作触发附属内容的操作。
重要的不仅是，通过可移动存储媒体152提供附属内容，而且该系统使得在其中用存储媒体上的关键数据的方式，实现可移动存储媒体152上的附属内容和特定的可下载基本内容之间的配对或连接，可移动存储媒体152提供访问基本内容的通路。以这种方式，附属内容提供商，通常是广告商，能够将可移动存储媒体152指向想要访问有价值且普及的基本内容的顾客，然而，基本内容提供商通过关键字，还可以使用可移动存储媒体152的特定时间段为基础控制对基本内容的访问。
可以理解，其它各种改进很明显，可由本领域的技术人员在不脱离本发明的范围和精神的情况下容易地进行。因此，下面的权利要求不限于本文中的描述和图解说明，但可由本领域的技术人员加以解释，以便用合理范围的所有特征覆盖可预见的等效体。

Claims (25)

1.一种系统，用于从服务器下载基本内容期间给客户提供附属内容，包括：
服务器网络，包括下载管理服务器，存储用户信息的顾客数据库，和存储基本内容的基本内容数据库；
可连接的客户机系统，用于通过双向通讯网络建立与下载管理服务器的通讯连接；和
在客户机系统上的，用于存储用户标识符和附属内容的本地存储器，其中，在从下载管理服务器下载基本内容之前，将附属内容存储在本地存储器中；
其中，用户标识符从客户机系统加载到下载管理服务器，允许访问基本内容数据库中要求的基本内容，在下载要求的基本内容期间，客户机系统显示本地存储器中存储的附属内容；
所述基本内容是下载内容的集合，所述附属内容与所述基本内容是相同的数据类型，所述附属内容按发行人或广告商的优先权或按用户的优先权或喜好与所述基本内容区分开来；而按数据类型，所述基本内容和所述附属内容在时间上共同扩张。
2.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，以用户喜好为基础，附属内容是可变的。
3.依据权利要求2的系统，其中，通过提示客户输入信息设置，和通过给客户提供一个或一个以上的个人内容选择和一个或一个以上的分类选择来确定客户喜好。
4.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，以发行人喜好为基础，附属内容是可变的。
5.依据权利要求4的系统，其中，首先，在发送要求的内容之前，通过让下载管理服务器发送可用于分配内容的客户喜好数据，其次，依据客户喜好数据让客户机系统执行存储在本地存储器中的内容，以确定发行人喜好。
6.依据权利要求5的系统，其中，可从一个或一个以上的单独内容选择和一个或一个以上的内容分类选择中选取喜好数据。
7.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，可从通讯网络获得附属内容并分发到本地存储器。
8.依据权利要求7的系统，其中，本地存储器是硬盘驱动器。
9.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，客户机系统还包括客户的内置或外置的本地固定存储设备，其中，要求的基本内容下载到固定存储设备上。
10.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，附属内容提供在存储附属内容且适于批处理的便携存储器上。
11.依据权利要求10的系统，其中，便携存储器是CD-ROM，所述批处理的技术是直接邮件技术。
12.依据权利要求10的系统，其中，所述便携式存储器是CD-ROM，所述批处理的技术是分别购买印刷产品中的广告位置的技术。
13.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，本地存储器是可安装在客户机系统中的可移动存储设备。
14.依据权利要求13的系统，其中，所述可移动存储设备包括其上的数据结构，数据结构包括多个附属内容项目，和用户标识符，多个触发数据项目分别与每个所述附属内容项目逻辑连接。
15.依据权利要求14的系统，其中，所述用户标识符加载到所述下载管理服务器上，以允许访问所述基本内容数据库中的特定内容，所述用户信息下载到所述客户机系统，以触发执行基于比较所述触发数据项目的特定附属内容项目。
16.依据权利要求15的系统，其中，所述用户标识符包括识别所述可移动存储设备的字母数字媒体ID。
17.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，从图像、电影、音乐、游戏、顾客调查或抽签中选择附属内容。
18.依据权利要求1的系统，其中，用户信息从下载管理服务器下载到客户机系统中，以触发执行基于同信息进行比较的特定附属内容项目。
19.一种方法，用于通过双向通讯网络从服务器网络下载基本内容期间，从本地存储设备提供附属内容，包括以下步骤：
通过双向通讯网络在客户机系统和下载管理服务器之间建立通讯连接，其中所述客户机系统具有其中安装的本地存储设备；
传送包含在所述本地存储设备上的用户标识符数据和给下载管理服务器的对基本内容的要求，以便从下载管理服务器收回所述基本内容；
在将基本内容下载到客户机系统期间，访问存储在本地存储设备上的附属内容；和
以包括客户或基本内容发行人提供的喜好的用户信息为基础，选择客户机系统要访问的附属内容。
20.依据权利要求19的方法，其中，所述用户标识符数据包括识别所述本地存储设备的字母数字媒体ID，所述本地存储设备还包含允许访问所述下载管理服务器的识别码，还包括接收所述媒体ID和所述下载管理服务器中的所述识别码的步骤，其中所述识别码和所述媒体ID中的一个用于在服务器网络上限制只能对所有基本内容中的特定基本内容进行访问。
21.依据权利要求19的方法，其中，所述访问所述附属内容的步骤还包括比较所述用户信息和每项附属内容中附带的触发数据，触发数据与构成附属内容的一个或一个以上的附属内容项目逻辑连接。
22.依据权利要求19的方法，其中，从所述下载管理服务器下载到所述客户机系统中的所述步骤包括在所述客户机系统内置或外置的本地固定存储设备上存储所述基本内容。
23.一种方法，当客户机系统通过双向通讯网络与下载管理服务器连接时，操作其中安装有可移动存储设备的客户机系统，包括以下步骤：
确定所述可移动存储设备是否要求连接到所述双向通讯网络上以在所述客户机系统中操作；
如果确定可移动存储设备要求网络连接的话，通过所述双向通讯网络建立客户机系统和下载管理服务器之间的通讯连接；
传送包含在所述可移动存储设备上的用户标识符数据和给所述下载管理服务器的对基本内容的要求；
从所述下载管理服务器将所要求的基本内容和用户信息下载到所述客户机系统；
在下载的过程中，比较所述用户信息和与构成附属内容的附属内容项目逻辑连接的触发数据，和确定是否启动所述客户机系统的控制功能以允许查看所述附属内容。
24.依据权利要求23的方法，还包括连续调查以确定在执行所述基本内容期间客户机系统用户是否取代所述附属内容的重放。
25.用于在从服务器下载基本内容期间提供附属内容的系统，包括：
服务器网络，包括下载管理服务器，和存储基本内容的基本内容数据库；
本地存储器，用于存储附属内容，其中，在从下载管理服务器下载基本内容之前，所述附属内容存储在本地存储器中；
用于从下载管理器下载数据和控制显示附属内容的终端；和
用于连接下载管理服务器和所述终端的通信接口；
其中，所要求的基本内容数据库中的基本内容是允许访问的，在下载所要求的基本内容期间所述存储在本地存储器中的附属内容被播放。
