技术领域
本发明涉及到电子邮件资源,特别是涉及到用来将一个网络中接收的电子邮件发送给另一个网络中的一个预定位置的邮件发送系统及其方法。
背景技术
在当今的电子商务世界中,采用电子邮件资源的通信方式正在日益普及。此类电子邮件资源中最知名的就是E-mail。采用E-mail的通信是发生在专用网系统内部的一个人和专用网之外的另一个人之间。应该指出的是,尽管本发明是参照E-mail的接收和发送来描述的,本发明的应用也考虑到了其它的电子邮件资源,例如传真,话音和电视邮件但是并不仅限于传真、话音和电视邮件。
术语“专用网”是指诸如商务,公司,大学,政府部门,教会,慈善机构等等的一般公众不能介入的任何专用网。专用网可能是由包括通过数据连接来互连的许多个人计算机,一个私人服务器和一个防火墙路由器的局域网构成的。专用网中还可以包括用来连接到宽域网的一个支局路由器。
私人服务器控制着在专用网内部发送或是接收的所有电子邮件资源。专用网内部的E-mail通信很容易地在个人计算机之间发送。而专用网对外的E-mail通信往往是通过将专用网连接到Internet或是其它公共网的防火墙来执行的。
在专用网内部指定给一个人的所有E-mail都被存储在专用网服务器的指定地址或是指定接收人的“邮件箱”中。离开专用网的人例如是一个离开办公室的商务人员往往会需要接入私人服务器去查看某些E-mail信息。以下将这种人称为“Travelling BusinessPerson”或是“TBP”。
一般来说,TBP可以通过公共交换电话网(“PSTN”)的拨号连接来接入私人服务器,或者是从Internet或是其它公共网络通过防火墙路由器进行连接。当TBP由于商务或是公司为这种连接设置的各种网络限制而不能通过Internet接入私人服务器时,就会产生问题。PSTN连接可能需要打长途电话。
例如,欧洲专利申请EP0772372中公开了这样一种系统,可以用手持无线通信终端接入一个邮件通信终端来检索电子邮件。由无线通信终端发送一个发送请求信号,请求将存储在邮件通信终端的邮件箱中的E-mail发送给无线通信终端。数据通信网络根据识别到的发送请求信号将存储在邮件箱中的电子邮件发送给无线通信终端。如上所述,无线通信终端的用户可能会由于无线网络的故障等等原因而无法接入邮件通信终端,这样就不能发送需要的电子邮件。另外,按照无线通信终端所处的位置会产生长途和/或漫游通话费用。
有一种方案是在专用网外部的公众可以接入的网络中指定一个地址,例如是登记在公共服务器上的一个公共邮件箱,其中的E-mail信息可以发送。然而,这种方案中的E-mail缺乏保密性,设定的公共邮件箱可能受到破坏性的接入和访问,并且/或是被非法的团体窃取。另外,这种方案对于公司内部信息的接入往往是有限制的。
一般来说,一个TBP往往在私人服务器上有一个私人或是团体邮件箱,并且在公共服务器上有一个私人邮件箱。为了方便,TBP可能需要将团体信息和私人信息分开。有一种解决方案是将所有团体邮件发送给团体邮件箱。如果同时提供私人和团体邮件箱地址,TBP可能想不到应该在哪里存储重要的团体信息,这样就需要在两个邮件箱中查看信息,从而浪费了时间和存储器。另外,增设的私人邮件箱地址还会使TBP必须要处理的E-mail地址的数量增加。
发明内容
本发明就是要解决上述的这些问题。
本发明提供了一种在专用网中使用的邮件发送系统,专用网中具有全部都通过数据连接来互连的一个服务器,一台固定的计算机和用于连接到专用网以外的公共网络上的一个路由器,在专用网接收到指定给一个固定计算机用户的电子邮件时,由服务器来控制电子邮件资源。这一邮件发送系统包括一个在固定计算机上运行的邮件发送程序,用来控制固定计算机去有选择地(a)从专用网中检索指定给固定计算机用户的电子邮件,以及(b)通过路由器将接收到的电子邮件发送给远离专用网的一个发信机所能够接入的公共网络中的一个指定地址。
按照本发明的一个方面,这种邮件发送程序包括一个比较程序,用来控制固定计算机仅仅发送满足具体的限制的那些选定的电子邮件。固定计算机确定检索的电子邮件是否满足具体的限制。如果检索的电子邮件满足了具体的限制,固定计算机就通过路由器将检索的电子邮件发送给指定的地址。另一方面,如果检索的电子邮件不能满足具体的限制,固定计算机就通过数据连接将检索的电子邮件反送给服务器。
按照本发明的另一方面,仅有用户能够在固定计算机上访问这种比较程序,以便输入和/或更改具体的限制。
按照本发明的再一方面,邮件发送程序中包括一个定时程序,用来控制固定计算机在选定的时间内检索和发送电子邮件。

按照本发明另外的方面,邮件发送程序控制固定计算机通过路由器向远程发信机发送一个通知信号,表示电子邮件已经被发送给指定的地址。
按照本发明的再一方面,邮件发送程序控制固定计算机向指定地址发送检索的电子邮件,并且同时向远程发信机发送通知信号。

本发明的目的是能够让远离专用网的用户能够访问他/她在专用网内部的信息业务。
本发明的再一个目的是在为用户提供这种访问的同时保持最低的费用。
本发明的另一目的是通过本地电话呼叫为用户提供这种访问。
本发明进一步的目的是要通知远离专用网的用户专用网已经接收到了指定给这一用户的电子邮件资源。
通过对说明书,附图和附带的权利要求书的研究就可以看出本发明的其它目的,特征及其优点。

具体实施方式
在图1中统一用10来表示一个全球网络。图示的全球网络10包括一个私人或是公司网络12和专用网12之外的公共网络14。
专用网12包括一个私人服务器16,防火墙路由器18和例如PC机的一台固定计算机20,所有这些都通过数据连接22互连到一起。应该指出的是,本发明同样适合通过数据连接22互连的许多固定计算机20,然而,为了简明的目的仅仅在图1中表示了一台固定计算机20。
在图1的公共网络14内部有许多独立的公共网络。这其中包括蜂窝网22,Internet 24和公共交换电话网(“PSTN”)26。为了简明,这些系统都被统称为公共网络14。然而,每个独立的网络内部及其本身都应该被认为是一个公共网络。
在公共网络14中包括一个公共邮件服务器28和一个便携式个人发信机30。便携式个人发信机30可以是一台具有蜂窝调制解调器的笔记本个人计算机,或者仅仅是一个具有增强的智能和图像的蜂窝电话。远程发信机30最好是一台具有显示器,用户控制的输入装置和一个蜂窝调制解调器并且具有编辑和E-mail功能的发信机。远程发信机30还可以包括一个用来增强显示和控制功能的图像用户接口(GUI)。然而,本发明的意思并不仅限于使用这样的发信机,在不脱离本发明的原理和范围的条件下,本发明也可以采用其它的发信机。
专用网12有能力:(1)在专用网12内部接收和发送E-mail信息;(2)向公共网络14发送E-mail信息;以及(3)从公共网络14接收E-mail信息。
私人服务器16控制着专用网12内部的E-mail信息流。专用网12按照下述的一般方式发送和接收内部E-mail信息。
一个人在固定计算机20上产生指定给专用网12中的另一个人的E-mail信息。通过数据连接22将这种E-mail信息发送给私人服务器16,在私人服务器上将其存储在指定或是分配给指定的接收方的地址中。指定的接收方仅仅需要向私人服务器16发送一个请求就能检索这一E-mail信息。
如果要从专用网12内部向公共网络14中的一个目标发送E-mail信息,一个人就可以在固定计算机20上产生指定给专用网12之外的另一个人的E-mail信息。然后通过数据连接22向防火墙路由器18发送这一E-mail信息。防火墙路由器18主要是用来将专用网12连接到Internet 24。
防火墙路由器18是专用网12的Internet安全措施的中枢。防火墙路由器18一般是采用一种状态检查技术来检查出入专用网12的所有数据,将数据与专用网12所限定的安全规则相比较,确认每一次通过都是合法的。如果防火墙路由器18确定了信息的传输是合法的,就通过Internet 24将E-mail信息发送给外部的目的地。
如果外部的E-mail信息是发给专用网12内部的一个人的,外部的E-mail信息在通过Internet进入专用网12时就被防火墙路由器18接收。如上文所述,防火墙路由器18要检查和确认数据的合法性。如果防火墙路由器18确定了输入的传输是合法的,就通过数据连接22将外部E-mail信息发送给私人服务器16,将其存储在指定或是分配给指定接收方的地址中。
按照惯例,防火墙路由器18的程序可以用选定的条件来限制信息传输,例如有日期,用途,Internet站点,允许的频带宽度等等。
固定计算机20可以用来监视私人服务器16上的新的E-mail,并且在接收到新的E-mail时在固定计算机20上为用户提供一个通知信息。或者是用户可以通过固定计算机20直接检查私人服务器16上的新的E-mail。
无论在哪种情况下,用户都可以用固定计算机20检索存储在私人服务器16中的邮件,如图2中的程序流程图所示。用户向固定计算机20输入一个指令,从私人服务器16上检索新的邮件。固定计算机20通过数据连接22访问私人服务器16,并且命令私人服务器16检索新的邮件。私人服务器16检索新的邮件并且通过数据连接22将新的邮件发送回固定计算机20,供用户在固定计算机20上查看。
然而,如果用户没有在专用网12中的固定计算机20处,要想访问存储在私人服务器16中的E-mail就会有一定的困难。正如本发明的背景技术中所述,远程用户要想访问存储在私人服务器16中的E-mail信息一般可以采用下面的两种方法。
参见图3的流程图,一种方法是通过PSTN 26访问私人服务器16。处在远程发信机30处的远程用户通过蜂窝网络22拨叫PSTN 26,用一个指令从私人服务器16上检索邮件。PSTN 26直接连接到私人服务器16,然后检索指定给远程用户的邮件,并且通过PSTN 26将邮件发送回处在远程发信机30处的远程用户。按照这种方式来存取E-mail可能需要打长途电话,并且往往要求用户输入一个口令或是其它密码才能允许其访问私人服务器16。另外,为了对保密信息提供进一步的保护,还可能要采用加密/解密特征。
参见图4的流程图,第二种方法是通过Internet 24经由防火墙路由器18访问私人服务器16。处在远程发信机30处的远程用户通过蜂窝网络22拨叫他的Internet服务商24,用一个指令从私人服务器16上检索邮件。Internet服务商24通过防火墙路由器18连接到专用网12中的私人服务器16。如果防火墙路由器18确定了传输是合法的,私人服务器16就检索指定给远程用户的邮件,并且通过防火墙路由器18和Internet 24将检索的邮件发送给处在远程发信机30处的远程用户。而这样就可能将公司或是商务秘密泄漏给Internet窃贼。
当远程发信机30由于专用网12为这种连接所设置的限制而不能通过防火墙路由器16经由Internet 24访问私人服务器16时,就会产生问题。尽管远程用户可以尝试着通过PSTN 26来访问私人服务器16,这样的连接也可能需要打长途电话,因此会增加费用。
这一问题是通过提供一种邮件发送系统来避免的,在专用网系统12中用一个远程发信机30检索存储在私人服务器16上的E-mail。如图1所示,本发明的邮件发送系统包括一个在固定计算机20上运行的邮件发送程序32。
邮件发送程序32检索存储在私人服务器16中的E-mail并且将其发送给驻留在公共服务器28中的一个选定的公共邮件箱地址。邮件发送程序32中包括只能在固定计算机20上输入和/或修改的参数和程序。例如,在公共服务器28中预定的发送地址必须是在用户离开之前在固定计算机20上用手工输入的。
邮件发送程序32包括一个定时程序,允许用户灵活地按照选择的限制仅仅发送选定的邮件。仅有满足选择限制的检索的邮件才会被发送给公共服务器28。只有用户才能在固定计算机上人工启动比较程序并且设定选择限制。这种选择限制中可能包括仅仅发送从某些个体处接收到的信息,接收到的某一主题的信息,从某一个帐号上接收的信息等等。
用户可以在远程发信机30或是固定计算机20上启动/禁止这种邮件发送程序32。另外,用户也可以在远程发信机30或是固定计算机20上撤销/禁止这种邮件发送程序32。
在图5中用程序流程图表示了通过远程资源30来启动邮件发送程序32的方法。具体地说,用户在远程资源30处用E-mail信息在蜂窝网络22上发出一个指令,启动固定计算机20上的邮件发送程序32。然后由用户的蜂窝网络22拨叫连接到防火墙路由器18上的Internet服务商24,以便发送E-mail信息。防火墙路由器18将输入的E-mail发送给私人服务器16,后者再将这一E-mail发送给固定计算机20。固定计算机20接收到这一E-mail信息,并且启动邮件发送程序32从私人服务器16上发送邮件。
如图6的程序流程图所示,通过远程发信机30来撤销邮件发送程序32的方式基本上是相同的。唯一的差别就是由用户发送一个撤销固定计算机20上的邮件发送程序32的指令。在接收到这一撤销指令时,固定计算机20就撤销邮件发送程序32,并且停止从私人服务器16上发送邮件。
以下要参照图7的程序流程图来解释本发明的邮件发送程序32的基本工作方式。一旦用户通过固定计算机20或是远程发信机30启动了邮件发送程序32,邮件发送程序32就按照存储在一个存储器中的程序控制指令进入框34的启动程序。
邮件发送程序32最初用框36确定定时程序是否已经启动。如果在框36已经启动了定时程序,固定计算机20就在框40从一个内部时钟检索当前时间,然后在框42确定当前时间是否等于预选的设定时间。如果当前时间不等于预选的时间,程序就返回框40并且进入一个连续的循环。在框42中,如果当前时间等于预选的时间,固定计算机20就在框44向私人服务器16发送一个请求,从私人服务器16上检索E-mail。
如果在框36中没有启动定时程序,邮件发送程序32就在框38控制固定计算机20一般地监视私人服务器16上新的E-mail信息。这种程序一般是采用Post Office Protocol,例如但是并不仅限于POP3来监视新的邮件。固定计算机20在框46和38连续监视新的邮件,直到接收到一个E-mail。
一旦框46中确定私人服务器16上接收到一个E-mail,框44就命令固定计算机20再次向私人服务器16发送一个检索E-mail的请求。固定计算机20在框48将检索的E-mail存入一个通信引擎,然后在框50中确定比较程序是否已经启动。比较程序允许用户仅仅发送选定的邮件。
如果比较程序已经启动,固定计算机20就在框54分析检索的E-mail,并且在框56中确定是否应该根据已经输入给邮件发送程序32的具体的选择限制来发送检索的E-mail。
如果检索的E-mail没有满足具体的选择限制,就可以在框58将检索的E-mail送回私人服务器16,并且在框59重新开始启动程序34。
如果检索的E-mail在框56中满足了具体的选择限制,或者是如果在框50中确定了比较程序还没有启动,在根据需要在框60中对检索的E-mail加密。在对检索的E-mail加密之后,在框62中检索指定的发送地址。在框64将加密的E-mail发送给指定的发送地址,并且在框66向远程发信机30发送一个SMS或是寻呼通知信号,表示E-mail已经被存入指定的发送地址。通知信号可以接在发送的E-mail之后或是同时发送给指定的发送地址。在发送通知信号之后,在框58重新开始启动程序34。
一旦在远程发信机30上接收到通知信号,远程用户就可以通过蜂窝网22向Internet服务供应商24拨打本地电话,在公共服务器28上访问指定的地址。然后,远程发信机30处的用户就可以从公共服务器28上检索和查看E-mail,不一定非要拨叫长途电话才能访问专用网12。远程发信机30处的用户可以采用诸如POP3或是IMAP4等等协议从公共服务器28上检索邮件。然而,本发明的意思并不是仅仅限于这些协议。
通过向远程发信机30发送通知信号,一个远程用户就可以知道E-mail已经被接收并且发送给指定的地址,并且不一定非要周期性地检查私人服务器16查找是否又收到了E-mail。这样就节省了他/她的工作时间和金钱。
尽管本发明是具体地参照着附图来描述的,应该指出的是,在不脱离本发明的范围的条件下还可以实现各种各样的修改。例如,E-mail中也可以包括传真邮件,话音邮件或是视频邮件,并且可以使用诸如RAM,Ardis,CDPD等等其它无线接入方式。

Claims (18)

1.一种邮件转发系统,用于将专用网(12)从专用网(12)内的服务器(16)接收到的电子邮件转发到公用网(14)中的指定地址,该公用网(14)是可以由远离专用网(12)的发信机(30)接入的,所述系统包括:
用于控制专用网(12)内的固定计算机(20)向服务器(16)查询由服务器(16)接收到的并且指定给固定计算机(20)用户的电子邮件的装置;
用于控制该固定计算机(20)从服务器(16)上自动检索指定给固定计算机(20)用户的电子邮件而不用用户干涉的装置;以及
用于控制该固定计算机(20)通过路由器(18)将检索到的电子邮件发送到公用网(14)中的指定地址的装置,该公用网(14)是可以由远离专用网(12)的发信机(30)接入的。
2.按照权利要求1的邮件转发系统,还包括,用于控制计算机(20)自动检索和发送满足由所述用户输入的预定选择准则的电子邮件的装置。
3.按照权利要求2的邮件转发系统,其特征是,所述用户将所述选择准则直接输入在所述计算机(20)上。
4.按照权利要求2的邮件转发系统,其特征是,所述选择准则是由用户仅在所述计算机(20)上输入的。
5.按照权利要求1的邮件转发系统,还包括,用于控制计算机(20)在一个由所述用户输入的预定时间检索和发送电子邮件的装置。
6.按照权利要求5的邮件转发系统,其特征是,所述预定时间可由用户仅在所述计算机(20)上输入。

11.按照权利要求10的邮件转发系统,还包括用于远程启动和/或禁止计算机(20)的装置。
12.按照权利要求1的邮件转发系统,还包括用于控制计算机(20)通过路由器(18)向远程发信机(30)发送一个通知信号的装置,指示电子邮件已经被发送给指定的地址。
13.按照权利要求12的邮件转发系统,还包括用于控制计算机(20)向指定地址发送检索到的电子邮件并且同时向远程发信机(30)发送通知信号的装置。
14.一种用于将专用网(12)从专用网(12)内的服务器(16)接收到的电子邮件转发到公用网(14)中的指定地址的方法,该公用网(14)是可以由远离专用网(12)的发信机(30)接入的,所述方法包括:
控制专用网(12)内的固定计算机(20)向服务器(16)查询由服务器(16)接收到的并且指定给固定计算机(20)用户的电子邮件;
控制该固定计算机(20)从服务器(16)上自动检索指定给固定计算机(20)用户的电子邮件而不用用户干涉;以及
控制该固定计算机(20)通过路由器(18)将检索到的电子邮件发送到公用网(14)中的指定地址,该公用网(14)是可以由远离专用网(12)的发信机(30)接入的。
15.按照权利要求14的方法,其特征是,进一步包括控制固定计算机(20)在将检索到的电子邮件发送给指定地址之前对检索到的电子邮件加密的步骤。
16.按照权利要求14的方法,其特征是进一步包括以下步骤:
在固定计算机(20)上设定特定的准则,限定选定的电子邮件;以及
控制固定计算机(20)仅仅向指定的地址发送选定的电子邮件。
17.按照权利要求16的方法,其特征是进一步包括如下步骤:
控制固定计算机(20)确定检索到的电子邮件是否满足指定的特定准则;
控制固定计算机(20)通过路由器(18)将检索到的满足指定的特定准则的电子邮件发送给指定的地址;以及
控制固定计算机(20)通过数据连接(22)将检索到的不满足指定的特定准则的电子邮件送回服务器(16)。
18.按照权利要求14的方法,其特征是,进一步包括控制固定计算机(20)在预定的时间检索和发送电子邮件的步骤。
