iGoogle is Google's personalised homepage. It allows people to customise the 'classic' Google homepage with things they find interesting. On this self-designed page, you can choose and organise content such as the following:
Themes allow people to change not only what goes onto their homepage, but also what it looks and feels like.
A visual theme spans the top portion of the Google homepage and is dynamic, changing throughout the day. Themes allow you to customise the page's design with the things you like.
As well as providing a service to users, iGoogle themes also provide an interesting creative challenge to those that make them. This is because they are connected to either the time or weather, and can change dynamically accordingly.
"The internet has been my canvas since the beginning, when I did my earliest work for the web in Java Shisheido. Today I like to think that my canvas is now instead not the Web, but the minds that engage in my work both visually and conceptually. After all, the web is not a network of machines - it's a network of people" John Maeda, contributing artist, iGoogle artists 2008
