This has the nice layout similar to the one Google used to have, plus some nice added features, like the ability to just grab and move items up or down in priority, and the ability to cross out items, but have them still show up. I also like the many options for choosing colors, etc. Best of all, it is compact!

There's code included in the source view...search on to-do (as it was originally mentioned) and scroll from there. Note that the first or 2nd? find wont be what you're looking for. Use "search again" until you hit the line that contains your list.

Pull up the source code (Mozilla = View:Page Source, or IE = View:Source) Use a keyword search to locate the text that was contained on your list. I know of two things that have been on my list for months, doing the search in the source code produced nothing.

If your list is displaying "Information is temporarily unavailable" there is a way to recover your list. Pull up the source code (Mozilla = View:Page Source, or IE = View:Source). Chances are you'll be overwhelmed by the lines upon lines of jargon but you can use a keyword search to locate the text that was contained on your list. It's not pretty but it will prevent you from loosing anything important.

i don't see any of the methods you are talking about for recovering the list... I stupidly used this list for some very important stuff, and now it is all gone, help!

I'm really starting to hate Google. They keep screwing with Gmail, and now this! Could this be happening because the Gmail now has this "tasks" ability? I find the gmail item useless and annoying, while I LOVED this one. And why isn't Google posting here, huh? If they actually cared about their users, they would.

Really like this gadget and have been using it regularly for several months. As a result, have a pretty long to-do list. Over the weekend all our tasks disappeared as others have reported. The author’s workaround of manually rebuilding it from the script would take too long and I have been trying to find a better way to recover the list. And, more importantly, if there’s a way to prevent it from happening again. Per the author responses on his blog, it sounds like Google’s deprecation of inlining may have something to do with the tasks disappearing/not being displayed. I posted on the author's blog if it might be possible to use the API’s instead of inlining for this gadget, as suggested here: http://igoogledeveloper.blogspot.com/2008/08/changes-to-inlined-gadgets.html Have not heard back from the user for couple days so have started looking at other tools. My Listy is one of them but looks like that may also suffer from the same issue so may have to look at other options outside of Google gadgets :(.

View source wasn't easy to read, but the info was still there. Thank you so much Leslie. Also, there are two identical to-do list gadgets by Matt McCarthy, one with 2500 users and another with less than 100 users. I have some of each on igoogle and the one with less than 100 users is working fine. When it works it is a terrific list.

I like this gadget, I really do. However, it's been down for awhile and the developer has apparently abandoned us, refusing to even comment on the issue. Sorry, Matt, but I'm deleting your gadget to use something else. For anyone who has lost their information, right-click somewhere in the gadget, itself, and choose "View Source." You'll get a notepad document full of text. Do a search for "listname" (exactly, no quotes) and you'll be taken directly to the name of your list (the personalized name you gave it). A line or two below that should be the items that were on your list, with the words separated by + signs.
