Artistaday.com’s goal is simple. We feel artists are under-valued, under-exposed, and generally under-appreciated. We want to bring attention to artists that otherwise don’t get the attention they deserve. If we can bring their art to one person that would have otherwise missed the opportunity to see it, we feel like we have made a contribution to the art community. If you like the artist’s work, take a second to leave a comment to tell them so. If you don’t, feel free to tell them that as well (constructive criticism is always appreciated). We don’t intend to showcase all the artist’s work, in fact we only show one image by the artist. Be sure to continue through to the artist’s website to find more of their work.
I loved this app, until it started not sizing to the right size on my igoogle load. It stays like a 1/4 of an inch, and wont size to show the full picture, it sucks, can anyone help?
I love it. It sizes up and down wonderfully. I have widescreen and like to rearrange my gadgets and if I don't like the art of the day, I can keep it small, but if I love it, I can pop it on the "wider" side and fill my screen with the gadget image. I like the exposure to different artists - even ones I'm not wild about - but I agree with several comments below. The only thing this gadget is lacking is a little more info about the work and the artist!
I don't like all the artists, but like Christopher below, once in a while I see something I really like. I have this gadget at the top right of my page (3 column layout) under the header pic, and it looks good in the overall layout and placement of gadgets on my page.
I don't like most of it. But every once in a while I see something amazing. Can't please everyone all the time, but this gadget has something for everyone.
Showing the name of the artist is good, but giving the work's title (as an "ALT" to the image, seen on mouseover for example) would help a little to understand what we're looking at.
It's worth the add...bring some interesting culture to your morning! - danielle sp - Aug 17, 2008 - Report this comment
I look forward to seeing what new artist they'll bring me each day. I love learning about amazing artists I've never heard of, or seeing new art from some of my favorite artists.
The thing is called "Artist a Day". That means ONE artist (and one representative image) per 24-hour-period. It doesn't change from minute to minute. It doesn't show 2 images per day. It shows one new image each day. My only suggestion is that it should be automatically keyed to the local time zone or at least have the option of manual configuration.
It is inspiring to see new artworks/artists daily. I don't know who picks the artists but they have a great eye. I regularly check out the artists websites to see more, see where they are showing and have even considered purchasing (though I am not quite solvent enough to do so)! kudos!
This is one of my favorite gadgets. I love the surprise of seeing the work of a new artist daily. This is a great way to learn more about up and coming current artists.
