It is easy to mistake thirst for hunger. When trying to lose weight, try drinking a glass of water prior to eating a meal. Each morning I fill up a bottle with 8X8 ounces of water. I will not allow myself to drink anything else, until I have finished - normally before I leave work. Drinking that quantity is difficult for the first day or two, but after that you may even crave more water. It is amazing what drinking an adequate amount of water will do for your body. When I drink a minimum of eight, eight oz. glasses, weight seems to fall off. There is also increased body moisture, which may be beneficial for intimacy. Sure, people may be able to survive with less water, particularly since there is also water in many foods, but the benefits outweigh the trips to the restroom.

He's right. We ALL need at least 8x8 oz of water a day. 8 oz isn't that much. Your urine should be almost clear if you are hydrated. The darker yellow or amber it is, the more dehydrated you are. A person doesn't feel thirst until dehydration has begun. That's why we are encouraged to drink more water. You drink before you get thirsty to maintain adequate hydration for normal cellular activity.

Good gadget, good tips. Water is essential to life. You should DRINK AT LEAST 8 CUPS PER DAY. See the info from the Mayo Clinic below: "How much water do you need? Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water. Several approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate. Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is about 1.5 liters (6.3 cups) a day. You lose close to an additional liter of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace the lost fluids. Eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Another approach to water intake is the "8 x 8 rule" — drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day (about 1.9 liters). The rule could also be stated, "drink eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day," as all fluids count toward the daily total. Though the approach isn't supported by scientific evidence, many people use this basic rule as a guideline for how much water and other fluids to drink. Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day. " These guys are DR's and they do know what they are talking about. Unless you grew up under a rock, you should know how important water is for your body.
