The sun is a star, just as stars are sun's to other galaxies. A shooting star on the other hand is nothing but a piece of space debris burning upon contact with the earth's atmosphere

Let fun fact check that, shall we? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun And while we're at it let's fun fact check Alpha Centauri being the closest star. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_centari As it turns out the Sun IS a star, definitely the closest one to Earth. The next closest being Proxima Centauri at 4.2 light years away, not Alpha Centauri.

I do enjoy trivia, but the word "facts" implies something that can be verified as true. "A car traveling 100mph would take over 29 million years to reach the nearest star." According to my calculations a car traveling 100 mph would take just over 106 years to reach the sun, assuming it was traveling toward it. To take as long as you say, the car would have to travel in a different direction, making the statement meaningless.

Did you know that the Atomic bomb used in WWII had more power than all of the non-atomic bombs dropped by every country during WWI, Vietnam, WWII, Korea and every war between combined? The Hiroshima atomic bomb had a blast power of 7KT, which is equal to 14 million pounds of TNT. Modern Nuclear bombs average 500kt or 1 Billion pounds of TNT! Scary.
