The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) works for the day when its services are no longer needed. Until then, the not-for-profit organization offers local, national, and international support to people who have survived government-sponsored torture. CVT provides direct services like medical and psychological care and referrals to support groups. It also conducts research on the effects of torture and treatment methods and trains those who work with survivors while advocating public policies to bring about healing and an end to torture worldwide. CVT was formed in 1985.
