Vedanta Resources plc is a diversified metals and mining company. Its segments include zinc, iron ore, copper, aluminium, power and oil and gas. The aluminium business consists of bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminium smelting operations in India, and trading through the Bharat Aluminium Company Limited . The copper business includes a copper smelter, two refineries and two copper rod plants in India, trading through Sterlite Industries (India) Limited; one copper mine in Australia, trading through Copper Mines of Tasmania Pty Limited, and an integrated operation in Zambia comprising three mines, a leaching plant and a smelter, trading through Konkola Copper Mines PLC. Its zinc-lead business includes zinc-lead mining and smelting operations in India, and trading through the Hindustan Zinc Limited. The Power segment segment consists of power plants. In December 2012, the Company's subsidiary Sesa Goa Limited acquired remaining 49% of Western Cluster Limited.
