Coalfield Resources PLC, formerly UK COAL PLC, is a holding company. The Company is engaged in surface and underground coal mining, property regeneration and management and power generation. The Company operates in four segments: Deep mining, Surface mining, Property and Other. Its Deep mining segment consists of the underground mining operations of the Company and related labor services and the captive insurance company. The Company's Surface mining segment incorporates all mining activities at surface level, together with the plant hire operations of the Company. The Company's Property segment, Harworth Estates, maintains, develops and rents the its property portfolio and operates the Company�s methane generation activities. Any activity not falling into any of other segment is included in the Other segment. On December 10, 2012, Company's operations had been restructured into two separate businesses comprising the Mining Division and the Property Division.
