R.E.A. Holdings plc is engaged in the cultivation of oil palms in the East Kalimantan in Indonesian and in the production of crude palm oil (CPO) and by-products from fruit harvested from its oil palms. In addition, it has interests in open cast coal mining operation and coal trading activity based on these concessions. The Company operates in two segments: the cultivation of oil palms and the development of coal operations. Its principal subsidiary is PT REA Kaltim Plantations. The Company holds rights in three coal mining concessions in Indonesia. It comprises the Liburdinging and Muser concessions located in the southern part of East Kalimantan. At 31 December 2011, it held agricultural land allocations in East Kalimantan totaling 97,698 hectares. Areas planted with oil palms or in course of development amounted to 37,000 hectares of which 25,415 hectares were mature. During 2011, the Company acquired a heavy duty plastic macerating unit.
