Peter Hambro Mining PLC is engaged in exploration and mining of gold and the development of facilities at Pokrovskiy mine; production and development of operations at Pioneer; acquisitions, exploration and development of reserves and resources at Pokrovskiy and Pioneer, the Amur north-east belt including Malomir, Albyn and Tokur, YamalZoloto/Yamal Mining Company and portfolio assets, and evaluation of potential acquisition and joint venture opportunities in gold mining in Russia. The Company operates in four operating divisions: gold mining, construction and other services, exploration and evaluation, and corporate. The Company principally operate in Russia and the United Kingdom. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the gold production from the Pokrovskiy mine was 267,100 ounce. On May 28, 2008, a subsidiary of the Company, OAO Pokrovskiy Rudnik acquired OAO PRP Stancii. On January 31, 2008, a subsidiary of the Company, Peter Hambro Mining (Cyprus) Limited, acquired OOO Elga.
