Petropavlovsk PLC is a gold producer. The Company is engaged in the mining of precious and non-precious metals which require it to hold licenses which permit it to explore and mine in particular areas in Russia. The Company operates in three segments: Precious metals segment, IRC segment and Other segment. The Company�s principal activities include gold mining, exploration and development of the Pokrovskiy, Pioneer, Malomir and Albyn mines and the mining of its alluvial deposits; exploration for the assessment of mineralization and the estimation of reserves and resources of deposits located in regions of Russia, which include the Amur region, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District and Zabaikalskiy Krai (Chita region); evaluation of potential acquisition and joint venture opportunities in gold mining in Russia, and evaluation of potential business opportunities. On February 7, 2012, it disposed its interest in the wholly owned subsidiary CJSC SeverChrome.
