Northern Bear Plc is engaged in acquiring and operating mature building services businesses based in Northern England. It has four segments: Roofing activities, which provides a range of roofing services, including slating, tiling, leadwork, felting, refurbishment and maintenance for domestic, commercial and public sector properties; Materials handling activities, which involves supply, service and maintenance of fork lift trucks and warehouse equipment both on hire and for sale; Building services activities, which involves aggregation of other specialist building services companies providing services, including fire protection and asbestos removal, and Corporate and other activities, which involves the provision of head office activity and consolidation items. As of March 31, 2010, it had 14 businesses under building services sector. In September 2010, it disposed its subsidiary, DJ McGough. In May 2011, it disposed its interest in The Roof Truss Company (Northern) Limited.
