Maple Energy plc is an energy company with assets and operations in Peru. It engages in energy industry, including the development of an ethanol project, exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas; and refining, marketing and distribution of hydrocarbon products. It operates in three segments: exploration, production and marketing; ethanol, and other and corporate. Its principal operations are: Ethanol Project, Oil and Gas exploration, Crude Oil Production and development, Refining, Marketing and distribution operations and Aguaytia energy. The Company commenced operations of the Ethanol Project at the end of March 2012 by beginning to harvest and process sugar cane from the plantation for the production of ethanol and April 2012, it commenced the production of ethanol. As of 31 December 2011, all of the land required for the first phase has been cleared in preparation for commercial planting of sugar cane.
