Helius Energy plc is engaged in developing, building and operating renewable biomass sites within the United Kingdom, either directly or in partnership. Its projects include Rothes project, Avonmouth project, Stallingborough project and Southampton project. The Avonmouth project resides within the Avonmouth dock area of Bristol port. The site has transport links that enables the delivery of fuel to the power station and it is envisaged a proportion of these supplies are delivered by sea. The plant utilizes approximately 850,000 tons of sustainably sourced solid biomass fuel per annum to generate at 100 megawatt electrica (MWe) export capacity, delivering over 0.76 ton watt hour (twh) per year of electricity, enough to power approximately 200,000 homes. The Southampton project is based in an industrial area within Southampton port. Its subsidiaries include Helius Power Limited, Helius Energy Gamma Ltd, Southampton Biomass Power Ltd and Liverpool Biomass Power Ltd.
