Description

Gulfsands Petroleum plc (Gulfsands) is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The Company�s focus is on the Middle East and North Africa, where it has oil exploration and development projects in the Syrian Arab Republic, and oil exploration projects in Tunisia. It also produces oil and gas from a portfolio of properties in the United States, offshore Gulf of Mexico. In Syria, Gulfsands is the operator of the Block 26 Production Sharing Contract with a 50% working interest. Block 26 covers an area of 5,414 square kilometers. It has non-operated working interests in two exploration permits in Tunisia (the Chorbane and Kerkouane Permits) and one exploration permit in Southern Italy. It owns a portfolio of non-operated oil and gas properties in the Gulf of Mexico, in the shallow shelf region offshore Texas and Louisiana. These consist of interests in 14 leases containing nine producing fields. In January 2013, the Company acquired Cabre Maroc Limited.
