Great Eastern Energy Corporation Limited (GEECL) explores, develops, distributes and markets coal bed methane gas (CBM) in India. It is engaged in the exploration and development of CBM over an area of approximately 210 square kilometers (approximately 52,000 acres) in the Raniganj coalfields of West Bengal. GEECL�s assets include the Raniganj (South) block (210 square kilometer / 52,500 acres) in the Damodar Valley, 185 km from the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. GEECL also has Mannargudi block, near the city of Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu. The Mannargudi block covers 667 square kilometers. In December 2013, the Company announced that it has completed the acquisition of local operating companies NPK-KONTAKT and LISPROMGAZ and is producing natural gas and developing its properties.
