Persimmon PLC is the holding company of the Persimmon Group of companies (the Group). The principal activity of the Group is house building, which is carried out within England, Wales and Scotland. The Group operates under the brand names of Persimmon Homes, Charles Church, Westbury Partnerships, City Developments and Space4. It operates in four divisions. The North Division includes Persimmon Homes operating businesses in Scotland, NorthWest, North East and Yorkshire. The Central Division includes its Birmingham, Shires and Eastern regions of Persimmon Homes. The South Division includes its Persimmon Homes Southern,Western and Wales regions and incorporates Westbury Partnerships and Space4. Charles Church builds homes across the United Kingdom from regional offices, which are integrated into each division. During the year ended December 31, 2008, North Division sold 2,753 units, Central Division sold 2,748 units, South Division sold 2,777 units and Charles Church sold 1,924 units.
