Thomas Cook Group plc, through its subsidiaries, is principally engaged in the provision of leisure travel services. It has five geographic operating divisions: United Kingdom and Ireland, Continental Europe, Northern Europe, North America and Airlines Germany. As of September 30, 2008, it had a fleet of 93 aircraft, and a network of over 3,400 owned and franchised travel stores, and interests in 86 hotels and resort properties. Its main brands include Airtours, Club 18-30, Cresta, Direct Holidays, Going Places, Neilson, Panorama, Thomas Cook, Thomas Cook Tours and Thomas Cook Signature. On August 1, 2008, it acquired TriWest Travel Holdings Limited. On August 4, 2008, it acquired Jet Tours S.A. On March 27, 2008, it acquired 54.4% of Thomas Cook (India) Limited, a foreign exchange and travel company in India. As of July 4, 2008, it had acquired a further 20.48% of Thomas Cook (India) Limited. In April 2009, the Company acquired Gold Medal International.
