BlackRock New Energy Investment Trust plc, formerly Merrill Lynch New Energy Technology plc, is a United Kingdom-based investment trust. The Company’s principal activity is portfolio investment. The Company’s objective is to generate capital growth for its shareholders by investing in companies which have a focus on alternative energy or energy technology. It invests in sectors, such as renewable energy, enabling energy technology, alternative fuels, materials technology, energy storage, and automotive and onsite power generation. As of the fiscal year ended October 31, 2008, the Company’s investments included Iberdrola Group, FPL Group, Vestas Wind Systems, Itron, Gamesa, Climate Exchange, American Superconductor, Sasol, Archer Daniels Midland and Clipper Windpower.
