Axis-Shield plc is a United Kingdom-based company focused on the development and manufacture of in vitro diagnostic tests for use in clinical laboratories and at the point of care. The Company comprises a Point-of-Care Division in Oslo, a Laboratory Division in Dundee and local distribution subsidiaries in the UK (Axis-Shield UK), in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland (Medinor), in Switzerland (Axis-Shield AG) and in Germany (Axis-Shield GmbH). At the point of care its products include the NycoCard range and the new Afinion system. In the laboratory sector it specialises in markers for the early diagnosis and management of critical illnesses, such as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. Its subsidiaries include, Axis-Shield Diagnostics Limited, Medinor ASA, OY Medinor AB, Medinor AS, Medinor AB, Axis-Shield AG and Axis-Shield GmbH. In May 2009, the Company divested its subsidiary, Plasmatec Laboratory Products Ltd to Lab21 Ltd.
