Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL) operates container freight stations (CFS), which are facilities set up for the purpose of in-transit container handling, examination, assessment of cargo with respect to regulatory clearances, both import and export. It operates in four segments. Container Freight Station segment includes common user facilities located at various locations in India, offering services for handling and temporary storage of import / export laden and empty containers and cargo carried under customs control.Rail Transportation segment includes transportation of import/export/ domestic laden and empty containers by rail under concession agreement with Indian Railways. Road Transportation segment includes transport of laden and empty containers by trailers to various locations in India. In February 2013, its subsidiary, Gateway Distriparks (South) Pvt Ltd acquired 100% interest in Chandra CFS And Terminal Operators Pvt Ltd.
