BEST also makes high-temperature superconductors (HTS) used in fusion energy research and scientific research applications. Its cuponal wire is used by the energy infrastructure and transportation industries as an alternative to copper wire. The company is breaking into the renewable energy market by developing superconductors for solar cells and wind turbines. BEST, a subsidiary of Bruker Corporation, filed to go public in 2010, but withdrew the IPO in 2012.
