Abrams has book distribution agreements cultural institutions and museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art. Branching out from its original focus on upscale art books, the firm also publishes children's books -- including the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series -- and sells calendars and other gift items. It has additionally launched imprints devoted to pop culture, crafts, and education. Harry N. Abrams founded the company in 1949; today it is a subsidiary of Paris-based publisher La Martini�re Groupe.
