The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation was established by its namesakes in 1983 to advance cooperation among the countries of Asia and the US through fellowships, publications, and other programs. Based in Washington, DC, the foundation also has offices in Japan and in Montana (during his career in public service Mike Mansfield was both an ambassador to Japan and a senator from Montana), where it also provides support to the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana. The foundation doesn't provide grants; rather, it receives support from individuals, corporations and charitable organizations.
