The Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation (PWDC) wants Philadelphians to get a job. A tax-exempt not-for-profit, PWDC has served the city's workforce since 1982. For businesses, it offers employee recruitment, development, and retention services; assessment and testing; job fair coordination; wage subsidies; and tax credits. It trains job seekers (including ex-offenders, the homeless, workers with disabilities, and unemployed adults) in areas such as skills development, resume writing, interviewing, and salary negotiations. The agency also funnels state and federal dollars to agencies that provide workforce training. Philadelphia area employers that have partnered with PWDC include ARAMARK and IKEA.
